Left Disney World resort this morning around 6am after a wonderful trip with our 4 kids. Traveling back home to Lafayette and as soon as we get to BR by I-10/I-12 junction, traffic stopped to a crawl. Maps saying 35 min to get to MS Bridge. Traveled 11 hours with no issue until we hit BR. Every. Single. Time. This is why we always take Hwy 90 when traveling to Nola.

Only made 3 stops currently….telling these kids hold it for another 90 min.

All we need is one more thread and traffic in BR will always be light and smooth…it promises.

I’m all about shitting on BR traffic, and it’s actually been shitty most of the day, but you hit BR at 5pm on the day before a major holiday/long weekend. You have to expect traffic to be bad.

Baton Rouge traffic has been really bad since about 11AM today, so even if OP would’ve been earlier - he would’ve been stuck

Wait till people find out that they don’t have enough funds to complete the current expansion through the city….

silly me thought it would be faster than exiting in Slidell and going through NOLA East to West Bank.

For the last time 10+ years, it’s always Hwy 90 just to and from Lafayette and Nola.

I’ve lived in Houston, San Antonio, and currently DFW. Nowhere is traffic such a shite show as when I lived in BR. That was 2009. I can’t imagine how much worst its gotten since then. I’ve always said it’s the worst I’ve ever experienced day in day out.

You legit planned to hit Baton Rouge traffic the day before Thanksgiving at 4pm? Are you frickin retarded?

Our traffic sucks donkey dicks but you should have known better and taken a detour at Oneal Lane to 190 to the Old Bridge.

This is on you dude.

I drove through Houston in the middle of rafternoon rush hour this past Summer. Took 45 minutes on I-10 to get from 610 to 610. That's Not bad at all compared to how slow BR traffic moves on I-10/12 during rush hour. Our city is much smaller but 45 minutes to go 5 miles is frickin absurd. Big cities like Houston you'll cover 15 miles in that time.

I-12 traffic is the worst in the country. I know that it only runs from Slidell to Baton Rouge, but there is not one driver who understands the “Slow Traffic, Keep Right” requirement. The “right lane is only for passing” rule evidently doesn’t apply on 12, and there are no troopers who enforce the law. It ruins a perfectly relaxing trip to Orange Beach or anywhere east of there.

I absolutely despise I-12.

I despise I-12 too but it may help if you had a better understanding of the rules because this rule doesn't apply anywhere except maybe England.

Yeah because no one has ever been stuck on the basin bridge traveling between BR and Lafayette. It's always BR that has the traffic.

I call BS that you didn't hit traffic I-12 at Covington the day before Thanksgiving because that area always backs up.

B.(1)(a) Upon all multilane highways, no vehicle shall be driven in the left-hand lane except when directed otherwise, preparing for a left turn at an intersection or private road or driveway, overtaking or passing another vehicle proceeding in the same direction, or when right-hand lanes are congested; however, no vehicle being driven in the left lane except when directed otherwise or preparing for a left turn at an intersection, private road, or driveway shall impede any other vehicle that is traveling in the same lane and behind that vehicle.
(b) Upon all multilane highways, no vehicle traveling in the left-hand lane shall be driven at a speed slower than any vehicle traveling to its right on the same roadway.
(c) Upon all multilane highways any vehicle proceeding at less than the normal speed of traffic at the time and place and under the circumstances then existing, shall be driven in the right-hand lane then available for traffic except when preparing for a left turn at an intersection or into a private road or driveway, or passing or overtaking a vehicle proceeding in the same direction, if passing on the left side of it.
