Next time you walk by their house and the dog comes to the edge of the yard, bait him into biting you, then they will have to put him down and you can sue. Coughing or sneezing seems to turn these animals’ beast mode setting on, so just try that.

I can't do that. My conscience won't let me. I can't just kill them if they're not on my property or not threatening me or someone else.

WTF do people let them run loose is beyond me. If that dog gets out and hurts a kid or anyone else it’s their arse. Problem is that won’t help after your child is injured or killed.
People are fricking stupid.

This is more about you, and your failure to identify poor neighborhood's when buying your home.

Call police.

Accuse neighbors of running a meth lab.

Make popcorn.

Open carry when you walk around the neighborhood. If one of the dog approches you in a threatening manner, drop it.

Have we gotten an update yet?

I'm not reading through a bunch of pussies being scared of a dog.

Since you are scared to walk by them, have your husband go with you.

I had a similar situation. I'm not a violent person at all and generally not one to rush to judgement or over-react but when you have two infants it changes your perspective.

My mom's neighbors are your stereotypical Denham Springs dwellers that constantly makes poor decisions, are very irresponsible, etc. They decide for some reason to get a pitbull for christmas. An adult pitbull with an unknown history that seems really fricking aggressive. There's a fence between their yard and my mom's but there's some weak points and this dog is trying desperately to get through.

My mom watches our kids sometimes and they like to play outside on the swing set and whatnot so this was cause for concern.

My brother being manlier than I am was in town so he went over there and gave him fair warning. What the neighbor's baby mama told my mom is that my brother went over there told the guy that if the dog ever even so much as snapped at my kids that he was going to kill the guy, chop his body up, and dump him in the swamp.

He even went to Harbor Freight right before all this and bought a big metal box thingy so that when he went over there he drug it over and it made all kinds of noise on the concrete so the guy was already opening the front door to see what all the commotion was. He had the box next to him by the door for dramatic effect.

Never saw the dog again.

Anti-freezeburger works great. Unfortunately the white trash neighbor usually survives.

Be a boss.

Walk over with a shotgun and do the world a favor.
One shot each to the face should work.

I don't know how long you've been in that neighborhood, but it sounds like the kind of place you'd strive to move away from.

Should I call animal control and report my concern, go directly to the neighbors in question and tell them of my concern but risk sounding like a bitch, or do I take my chances and not say anything? If I ever see them in my yard, I'm going to shoot them.

If you're man enough to shoot them if they enter your yard then man up and go TALK to the owners.

Whatever the conversation path ends up, make sure YOU only talk in a calm, cool manner. Stick to the facts, like leash laws and unsupervised animals, lack of fencing. You can only control yourself, you cannot control the mind/action of others so don't even attempt that, just be matter of fact and calm, cool, collected. Depending on the the conversation your next step is obvious: watch for them to follow through on control, or, call animal control/local PD.

Do NOT make threats, do NOT be aggressive. Maintain your own body control with minimal gesturing even. Have your wife, or another neighbor, video from a distance to show how under control you are and potentially out of control/unruly the neighbor is.

Do NOT warn them of shooting the dogs if on your property. That kinda action is best seen and not heard. If you warn them about and then do it the act appears premeditated and you were just waiting in ambush. Best to act in sudden self defense/defense of kids brought about by an "unforeseen" activity.
