No idea why you guys mentioning IV or veins are getting down voted. It's the single biggest issue the program has faced.

They (the government) have had and have exercised the power to kill for a long time.

I work at a hospital and have done IVs for many years. Even on drug addicts. I would volunteer to do this free of charge in my off time. I'll even push the drugs if they want.

Sounds like she knows how to pick'em. I'm right in her swing path.

What about those doctors that kill unborn children at 8-9 months? Or the ones cutting the healthy breasts and penises off of teenagers? Surely they have no morality to worry about.

Chief Gillespie had it right on In The Heat of the Night…the only non-cruel and unusual punishment for the death penalty is to tell the murderer he’s free to go, watch a smile come upon his face and then shoot him in the back of the head as soon as he walks out of prison.

Clogged lines.
What??? This is dumb. String up another iv tubing but this never happens ever.

Air in the line that could cause a terrible and non humane death.
Few air bubbles are harmless. Prime the line and you are good to go.

Not administering the drugs properly although I believe it’s automated now.
Nothing is automated. Exactly how do you “not” administer it correctly. You hook it up to the iv and push it. It’s not rocket science.
With lethal injection they go to sleep just like everybody does for surgery. Exactly the same. It is a very very nice way to die and I am sure the victims of the killers were also killed in a nice humane way.

We should go back to firing squads.

Public executions wouldn’t make society worse IMO

Just touching trace amounts Fentanyl can kill a person. I wonder what 1 ml injected intramuscularly (or sub q) would do? But that begs the question... where would we get it? It's super rare. The DEA only seized enough to kill every man, woman and child in America in 2022 alone.
Killing people is one of the oldest hobbies on Earth. But, as easy as it is, it's yet another thing that our in incompetent government fricks up regularly.

Why would lethal injection get botched?
Do you have any idea who is carrying out the execution?
You start the absolute dumbest threads.

It's been a few years since I looked at the topic deeply, but here are the main points IIRC on problems associated w/ lethal Injection:
-IV access. This has been mentioned already. In addition, it's possible a functioning iv was successfully placed, but became functioning after the process had been started.
-Debates by defendant attorneys and state medical/nursing boards as to what medical professionals can do, or not do.
-The biggest problem is the pharmaceutical being used for sedation, the first step in the process.. Originally a barbiturate (sodium thiopental) was used to render the person unconscious and painless. Sodium thiopental has been used for years to induce anesthesia in surgery patients. Unfortunately, the med is no longer made in the US. The other countries that make it have issues w/ lethal injection and won't sell it to us. People then turned to midazolam (trade name Versed). While it's a decent sedative, it hasn't worked as well as the barbiturate did. At times, huge amounts of midazolam have been used without providing adequate sedation and a painfree situation. The sedation is followed sequentially by an agent that paralyzes all the muscles in the body (including the diaphragm) so the person stops breathing and a large dose of potassium that stops the heart beat. Some states use a machine that injects the medicines after the person's been sedated.
This article provides more details if you're interested.

So an injection gets botched???? I’m sure their
Victims all died peacefully….. I’m an eye for an eye guy. These states are soft as can be… why do these criminals get a last meal and to say goodbye to their families when their victims don’t get that?????
