Back to the OP's original topic, I have a sneaky suspicion that the bill won't get enough support once it is introduced. Hopefully I'm wrong because I strongly believe that there are true benefits for medical marijuana. But I don't have faith that the majority of congress has balls enough to pass it.

Again, hopefully I'm wrong.

Paul is not extremely conservative. If there is a more libertarian member of the house or senate please point them out.

the bill will also attempt to reclassify marijuana from Schedule 1 to 2. Schedule 1 drugs are considered dangerous with no medical value, while Schedule 2 classification would recognize marijuana's medical benefits.

I just hope there is a vote. It will at least show progress and as stated in earlier posts we will see the opponents of this movement.

According to this Fox News report above, it states that it will allow the 23 states that legalize and regulate medicinal to do so without breaking Federal Law. Louisiana is not one of the 23. So, I don't see this bill having a direct effect on Louisiana.

I didn't say it should be legal genius, I said people are going to regret it being legal. Where do you think ghetto people get money these days besides welfare.......they slang weed! When weed is legal and corporations take it over where are the ghetto people going to get money? Well...they are either going to rob your nice white neighborhood or take your $ in the form of taxes.

Also, we SHOULD need less prisons, prison guards, attorneys, police, border patrol, IRS, parole officers etc but we aren't going to let that happen. We will have just as many and they are going harassing white middle class people that don't do shite wrong during their free time.

Those are just a couple of reasons. The additional $ we make from taxes aren't going to come anywhere near making up from the net loss in our economy you retard.

Goddamn there is literally zero data or evidence to support this. In fact, it supports the opposite notion that crime of all types goes down, arrests go down, and additional tax money is substantial for local municipalities.

You are seriously misguided here.

Come on you have to at least have a coherent statement to troll.

I'm not sure how this is a surprise? It is right on time honestly. I think this bill needs to be killed immediately. The purpose of this bill is mostly a sham. It is a way for the federal government to say, "Look we are being progressive." But, in reality it is a way for them to postpone the actual legalization of marijuana (which is coming).

I would be very surprised if this bill gets the backing from NORML.

This bill would be a HUGE step forward for the Marijuana industry.

quote:

Medical marijuana is now legal in 23 states and the District of Columbia, and voters have approved it for recreational use in four states and Washington, D.C.

But it remains illegal at the federal level. That disparity locks marijuana businesses out of the banking system and exposes users to arrest.

Paul's legislation would ensure that buyers and sellers in those states would not risk federal prosecution if they are complying with state and local laws

The financial security of the industry would go up exponentially and more investors will come forward.

All vices hsould be legal and regulated, but I guess you have to take baby steps before you can run a marathon.

There have been innumerable laws that have been created and passed out of necessity to protect society from the harms of alcohol.

It is an extremely faulty argument to say that Marijuana is harmless, and an even greater fallacy to say that if pot were legal there would be less crime.

If there were no laws at all, crime would drop to zero, but I'm sure you'd like to keep a few of those pesky laws around.

Actually there is empirical evidence from countries, states, and cities with legal marijuana that says you are dead wrong and no evidence to suggest you're correct. Crimes from all categories have gone down, not just drug crimes.

It's a lot less harmful than alcohol and cigarettes. That isn't debatable. Not addictive like alcohol, cigarettes, dip, sugar and caffeine too.

I hope this was a troll.
