It’s definitly not universal and we’re lucky to have it here

Yeah people here tend to forget that our Constitution is what grants us our rights, not any pre established human rights. Other countries couldn't give a shite about the First Amendment in the US.

At this point it's more surprising when another country allows it's citizens to criticize things without trying to throw them in prison.

Seriously, just because you disagree with an idea does not grant you license to issue thought control over society.

If we don't do it, they will do it us

Your refusal to defend yourself is cowardice. Point blank.

God, not the Constitution, the Constitution just recognizes it. So if we became a non Christian or atheist society, the logic for that collapses.

The rest of the West, isn’t like the US.
Freedom of speech and expression isn’t universal.

Pretty typical in a good portion of the developed world. Very few nations citizens of other countries have any true right to free speech. The difference between the US and the UK is startling. We may be headed that way but most of the rest of the world has never allowed free speech to the extent it is taken for granted today in the US. This was one of the most startling things I learned living abroad....free speech is not typical in most of the world outside of the US.

What exactly are you advocating?
Sounds like you are advocating the censorship of free speech.

Your refusal to defend yourself is cowardice.
Refusing or even neglecting to defend free speech is cowardice - or tyranny.
I am not in that camp.

Absolutely

Some things are evil, and should be destroyed.

Edit - one of our mistakes, and this was a point that Franco made, is that we gave our enemies the benefit of our principles. We gave the communists for example, the protection of free expression, and we allowed them to embed themselves in our universities. We should never have done that.

They literally made camps in 2020 and arrested people for questioning mandates.

Possibly being sent to prison for performing a Nazi salute. This guy is obviously a terrible person, but is Australia going too far?

I want to reiterate that I in no way condone Nazi political ideologies, but in how do you guys feel about this? I lived overseas for a few years and knew a few Australians who complained of the "nanny state" in Australia. It does seem like this is going down a path that leads to too much control by the government....

Look, I dont know why we are beating around the bush as soon as the Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin died Australia as we know it, died as well.
