There was a spat of gang shootings where instead of executing the person they would shoot them in the pelvis/sacrum from behind. The person ended up impotent, inconvenient and shitting and peeing in a bag the rest of their lives.

It's a solid point. You're only going to stop somebody in their tracks if you hit the brain, sever the spine, or shatter their pelvis.

If you ever have to shoot someone on the draw, they trained us to start shooting at the pelvis on the way to getting as extended as possible.

Extend as much as possible given the situation. I've never even thought about the recoil being much of a factor, and I've always used man booolets (.45ACP) in a subcompact/compact.
