Why not bolf?

The 20th rule of Rangering, if you can use your hatchet to kill someone, rather than musket, use the hatchet. In other words stay silent and save ammo.

All dialysis patients would die quickly.

Yep. Scary to think of how many will die due to lack of modern medicine. And I’m not just talking about antibiotics and emergency medical services for strokes and heart attacks.

What about all the cancer patients suddenly without their chemo, diabetics suddenly without access to insulin or oral diabetic meds.

I have a close family member who had a total thyroidectomy. Can’t imagine watching this person slowly die due to no access to hormone replacement.

For those who think they'll survive on whitetail deer, deer will be extinct in 6 months, so you better come up with longer range plans.

They won't be extinct but the population will certainly dwindle because they only breed once per year. My clan will mostly live off wild hog (we have traps), coons, opossums, etc.

I don't think clean water will be that big of a deal for a while if you have a few Life Straws. They claim to be able to filter 1,000 of water per straw. Our property has 2 year round springs to provide water. Plus I have a cistern system as well.

was thinking about something like this the other day: what did it used to look like 500 years ago before Europeans settled in the SE US as far as how tall the grass would get. Nobody cut it.

There were plenty of fires caused by lightning strikes to keep underbrush down and there was a lot of closed canopy forests, so I don't think grass was THAT tall.

I think they estimate within 1 to 2 years 90% of people would be dead

And what would happen? Will they eat all the good fish?

Asian carp is pretty good; the bones are what makes it a bit problem

This is more of a question since I’m not educated on the subject but what about nuclear power plants? Is there some kind of indefinite safe mode they can be switched to or will we have meltdowns if they aren’t manned?

Complex electro mechanical systems, will eventually fail without maintenance and parts, I assume at a nuclear power plant that would eventually involve a “meltdown”.

A lot of "independent" women would become traditional housewives again.

Race relations would be condensed down to which ethnicity tasted the best.

Salt will be the prime was of preserving foods you can not smoke... where you going to get salt?

WTF do you do for shoes when you can't buy them anymore and you can't find tires to cut up because the EPA buried them all in Arkansas? Footwraps?

Which animal hide makes the most durable footwraps? Would some rope and an armadillo shell work?

How do you get lice and other parasites out of your clothing with now special soaps? (I know the answer to this but only works in cold climates)

Where the hell do you store your winter clothes in the summer so they don't get moldy and dissolve but where some a-hole doesn't steal them?

Divorce becomes uber simple.

No more possum cops... so would organizing so that the tribe/group next door doesn't hunt/trap out your patch of land be a priority?
