Segway’s newest self-balancing vehicle won’t require you to stand up. Dubbed the S-Pod, the new egg-shaped two-wheeler from Segway-Ninebot is meant to let people sit while they effortlessly cruise around campuses, theme parks, airports, and maybe even cities — all of the same places you’d expect to see one of the company’s iconic (if still a bit dorky) stand-up vehicles.

Might be a good solution for the handicapped. Just wonder about safety/control of the device.

Stupid. What's the obsession with avoiding a third wheel?

For people who want to significantly shorten their lives.

From watching the older generations of my family age and pass, I’ve seen that not walking, or difficulty walking, is the top of a spiral that ends in a box.

Edit: Applies to the elderly who should be able to walk. No slight intended to the handicapped.

I admit it's become a favorite of mine after my 4yo made me watch it 117 times. I agree it's a well made movie...except when he takes the plant out in space to show Eva and it didn't die.

I was in a wheelchair for a few months after botched back surgery and there was nothing I wanted more than to walk. And it was painful to get it back. I had to use one of those ride-ons at one point and I would rather crawl than ever do it again. I do not get people these days.

Can't use (and charge for it) your fancy gyroscope if you have a third wheel.

I agree,

But walking. I can be as lazy as anyone but I lost the ability for that period and it was DEVASTATING to me. Anyone who wants to ride around instead of walk in obvious places is a moron who needs to have evolution eliminate them.
The people who will hold up a lane of cars in a parking lot so they can walk 30 feet less need to go.
The people that ride the little carts because they are too fat need to go.
The people that get handicapped permits when they do not truly need them need to go.
