Who in their right mind is responding to this type of stuff without police? The very first thing they will do is call the police to go with them. If medical calls happen in bad neighborhoods, guess who the paramedics call to stand by? There is a zero percent chance this works. And if they try it, one of those workers will get seriously injured, or killed.

Oh, so the actions of the autonomous zone made you suddenly realize that law enforcement is necessary?

And i love the go to of using the black officers as the reason to not cut the budget lol

Well played mayor, well played

Then they probably don't send an unarmed social worker by themselves.

They’re still officers, but they have a special skill set for when someone is completely off their rocker.

A 40 hour school and a 1 day yearly retrainer does not give anyone a "special skill set".

Medics need police for any violent or possibly violent situations, along with overdoses, attempted suicide, or threat of suicide. Add in altered mental status also, at least police preferred with AMS

ETA: Include car wrecks to the list

We’re about to get to watch the death of a major city in real time at a scale that perhaps has never happened before in this country. I’m thinking Detroit but accelerated exponentially

This is going to happen to a lot of major cities. What is the point of living in NYC, Chicago, and LA if everything is closed? Then throw on top crime rates we haven't seen since the 80s.

Anecdotal, but here's my story. Used to work for a medical equipment company in Montgomery. One of our delivery drivers was taking some equipment out to a house in a neighborhood that you see a lot of burglar bars on windows. As he was there, a guy showed up and starting fighting another guy in the house. A firearm was brandished by one of them. Delivery driver tried to escape the house, but his exit was blocked by the turmoil, so he ran upstairs. Cops showed up, he was relieved but cops wouldn't get out of their car. He was yelling, waving his arms from the upstairs window thinking the cops weren't sure if this was the right place. A minute passes, another cop car pulls up behind the first..........THEN THEY ALL GOT OUT AND APPROACHED THE HOUSE.

Moral: If a cop, with a gun and a badge won't do anything until back up arrives, who thinks a "social worker" is going into some of these shitty places alone?

Elections have consequences. And despite all of this insanity, it would not shock me if councilwoman Shwarma and her merry band of marxists were re-elected in a landslide. Insanity.

Those 7 city council members who voted for this all need there houses burglarized and cars set on fire and let’s see if they still think the police force needs to be cut 50%

You do realize that the people who live in Washington, Oregon, and California made this shitshow themselves, right? They keep voting for the same politician, thinking their "utopia" is right around the corner. The Left Coast was lost a long time ago, and it's not coming back. Populated by insane people who lack logical thinking.

Well they aren't saying to cut funding for these types of crimes.

I guarantee if you ask 9 out of 10 people in those states (especially California) if they want to cut the police budget in half, they would say “Are you out of your fricking mind?!” Yeah they wanted left wing policies, but they didn’t sign up for this crazy shite. These are the fringe 5% that weaseled their way into office. These batshit crazy people just have a much louder megaphone than the general public.

These people are batshit insane and are trying to destroy all aspects of a civil society. I’m out in these states every month out of the year before Covid. Yes, there are some crazy mother frickers that live in those states, but the majority of them are sane. I don’t even think mass voter fraud should be a problem for Trump beating these lunatics. It should be the easiest fricking issues ever to run against.

Weaseled their way? Do you see who is the governor of Cali? He is a former mayor of San Fran. Not exactly an unknown.

I will guarantee you that the majority of Compton, South Central and Long Beach are all in favor of "defunding the Po-Po". As are the liberal elites, as long as they can still have their walls, gates, and private security.

Try running for office in L.A. with an (R) behind your name, and let me know how that works out.

So if I am a cop in Seattle, knowing our budget will be reduced by 50%, knowing what that will mean to cops on the streets, I am simply going to keep on working. Not looking for another job? Watching that sickening video, this crap is not new, it's been going on for yrs now. The "defund the police" movement has brought it to the forefront now.
