If we wants to ride without a seatbelt he can. Pay the ticket.
Or buy a bike.
Pretty simple.

I've had 4 uncles in motorcycle accidents. 2 of them serious (body casts). No head injuries, though.
I ride.
I also make sure everyone in my car is fastened at all times. It is the simplest rule to make my car safer.

The question the OP brings up is if you support the laws restricting things for safety. And also the question that I asked: if you support seat belt laws because of ‘safety’, would you also support laws prohibiting bikes and motorcycles, since they are so much more dangerous?

Are park rangers actual law enforcement or are they just enforcing “park rules”?

I also make sure everyone is fastened in my car at all times. The question is whether you support laws about adults wearing seatbelts on the basis of safety, and if so, would you also support laws prohibiting motorcycles and bikes on roads, since they are demonstrably less safe than cars?

I support laws banning wannabe Lance Armstrong douchebags from riding bikes outside of a bike lane or on a road without one.

It's a seatbelt fine, suck it up for being a dumbass and being treated like a dumbass. Trying to pretend its some sorta rights overreach is asinine.
If you`d overcorrected for a spooked deer darting across, this thread would be about your sons "Snapped neck in nat`l park. Why wasnt a deer crossing sign there!"

If you want to take things to extremes, we could ban all motorized vehicles and americans could have one of the longest life expectancies in the world.
If you need extremes to make a point, you don't have a point yet. Keep formilizing.

It’s extreme to point out the inconsistency that we’ve approved a law for safety, while allowing other less safe driving behaviors? I mean that doesn’t make any sense at all. Why would you support the one and not the other? It’s not extreme to suggest that riding a motorcycle is more dangerous than not wearing a seatbelt. It’s true.

What makes riding a motorcycle less safe than driving a car?
The act of driving/riding itself can be safe or unsafe in either.
There is an equivalency to the driver/rider in both situations which spoils your point. Good drivers/riders should be welcome on roads.
The only point you can make is that the victim of another driver's mistakes would be much more costly as the motorcyclist.
But the next step would be akin to telling someone not to be on public roads because other drivers aren't the safest (despite the one being kept off the road being the safest driver of all).
You are desperately grasping at straws. I don't know why you are so desperate this early in the morning about seat belt laws.

Wear your seat belt, but there's nothing more annoying that a cop who gives lectures on the side of the road. Many LE agencies frown on their officers doing this.

I’m not sure I follow you here. I’m just saying that the laws should be consistent if they are protecting our safety. If they can mandate seatbelts for safety as a ticketable offense it doesn’t make any sense to allow other less safe driving behaviors like riding on motorcycles. This is really the crux of the issue because it shows how laws on little freedoms that don’t seem important have wide ranging consequences if the same logic is applied elsewhere.
It’s not an extreme either. Motorcycles are incredibly dangerous compared to cars (20x more is the statistic I’ve read) Why would we make someone pay $180 for not wearing a seatbelt when someone else being much less safe on a motorcycle is legal?

Oh for God's sakes. The kid can fight for his country but can't enjoy looking at it from a sunroof without being lectured. GTFOH.

This is the problem with your point. Riding a motorcycle can be safe. Just like driving a car can be safe. Just like owning a gun can be safe. Safe behavior is safe behavior.
However, riding a motorcycle can be unsafe. Just like driving a car can be unsafe. Just like owning a gun can be unsafe.
You are acting like a demand to remove safe motorcycle riders is a reasonable argument because you don't know how to formulate an argument.
The reality is that unsafe people put others at risk in all of the above situations. But your kneejerk reaction to a law requiring seat belt use (which is the process of safe driving along with checking your mirrors, using blinkers, etc ...) should equate to a law removing safe motorcyclists from the roads.

The kid's death from doing stupid shite means the military has to find one more willing to fight for his country. That's the second order effect most 19 year olds don't understand.
