Sears Holdings said it would close 78 unprofitable stores this summer. The company said it will close 68 Kmart stores and 10 Sears stores, with nearly all the closings occurring in late July, with two of the Kmarts closing in mid-September. “The decision to close stores is a difficult but necessary step as we take aggressive actions to strengthen our company, fund our transformation and restore Sears Holdings to profitability,” said Edward Lampert, Sears chairman and chief executive, in a statement.

My brother works at the clear view location. The auto center in Houma will have things at a 90% discount. Also. It's gonna take them a year to close these stores.

Every time I go into Sears their products are randomly scattered around in different places. In complete disarray and no one seems to give a shite

I want to know how the Sears at Oakwood Mall stays open. That joint never has a customer.

Last time I was at K mart there was a bazilion registers, one open and thirty people waiting. I thought to myself, "This is the last time I come in here."
Must be catching on.

Big box stores are having to reinvent themselves which is good. Maybe don't have 30 lines and only use ten. Maybe just construct ten and not buy so many computers.

And metal too. Todays toys are all plastic at a higher cost. Those Wish Books were the best. They dont make toys like they used to. Now everyone is on Ipads.

The US dollar is worth quite a bit less now, isn't it? And just think -- these Tonka toys are not shabbily made units Made in China. They were well built toys.

Anyone else remember playing PONG on the demo video game at the Houma Sears back in the day?

That and the smell and sometimes feel of piss-dampened carpet in the changing rooms...

ah, the good ol' days

K-Mart's old headquarters are like an old empty Soviet relic across from the big upscale mall in metro Detroit on prime real estate. It's like no one wants to take on demolishing the monster.
