Every time I go into Sears their products are randomly scattered around in different places. In complete disarray and no one seems to give a shite
You're basically describing most brick and mortar retails stores. Best Buy is the absolute worst, and they under staff to save money so good luck getting anyone to check on inventory for you.

Service Merchandise model would work today
Buy item online then go to back of store, and pick it up off the conveyor belt

Labor is always the first thing that companies look to cut. All too often you see it shoots them in the foot.

They had 4 registers there, but they weren't open (meaning they didn't have their light on), but the self checkout had the green light. They had 1 woman standing there and asked if I needed help to use it. I'm like WTF? Why not be at a register to check us out instead of offering help at the self checkout?
Big box stores are having to reinvent themselves which is good. Maybe don't have 30 lines and only use ten. Maybe just construct ten and not buy so many computers.

Because there are idiots who can't figure that shite out. The Chase bank by me still has someone to show people how to use the atm's inside.
