Scientists: Wealth and Power more important than Survival of the Fittest

Science News Daily article
quote:
Researchers have discovered a dramatic decline in genetic diversity in male lineages four to eight thousand years ago -- likely the result of the accumulation of material wealth, while in contrast, female genetic diversity was on the rise. This male-specific decline occurred during the mid- to late-Neolithic period.
quote:
Melissa Wilson Sayres, a leading author and assistant professor with ASU's School of Life Sciences, said, "Instead of 'survival of the fittest' in biological sense, the accumulation of wealth and power may have increased the reproductive success of a limited number of 'socially fit' males and their sons."

so you're saying chicks prefer the old CEO of the company to the muscular janitor? wow that's really surprising to no one at all.

There are different types of fitness other than physical.
When the rules of the game changed, those who could prosper and attain wealth/power got all da wimmens.

I've been saying for years that technology, wealth and social welfare has ended human evolution.
Physically weak people can thrive with wealth, and mentally weak people are kept alive by society. That and the shear number of people in the world ensures that unfit humans (in the evolutionary sense) can thrive and procreate at will.

The list of authors is longer than the abstract for the paper (quick, rough count ~60 authors...fricking nuts).

TL/DR
ugh, can I have my iPhone back now?
That is the problem these days.

It's not "more important than survival of the fittest". It's more important than physical advantages. The ancients who best adapted to their environment have more present-day descendants.

sam colt pretty much did away with "I'm stronger than you , Ugh, so I get woman".
I know a fella who was crazy big. he married a smoking hot chick. why, cause they take his plane to where ever they want to go. When she said "I do", she secured the financial future of her kids and grandkids .
Religion has also downplayed death. Most people don't want to live long. They want to go into whatever afterlife they believe in.

No bro. I'm at the gym everyday getting big, and my girl gets wet knowing I can kick anyone's arse. We met at the club, and she loved my big arms bursting out of my black tank, and she's okay I work at TGI fridays.
