Is this going to result in health care staff taking off work?

A school here in Cobb County GA (Northwest Burb of Atl) is closing for two weeks.

My wife is a teacher in Cobb and they got an email tonight saying to come prepared tomorrow to come up with a 2 week plan for kids to learn at home. Another teacher my wife knows at another school in the county said they got the same email just from their own principle.

They all think that on Friday their schools are going to announce two weeks off and then present to the parents that they already had an education plan.

They keep telling us these kids will have nothing to eat if the school doesn’t feed them.

IDIOTS!!

No one in the world under 9 years old has died of COVID19.
There is only a 0.1% chance of anyone 10-29 dying of COVID19, and that would be a person already in bad health.

Anyone with respiratory issues should remain at home, everyone else can continue to go to school. IT is not like there are a bunch of ill people over 80 in schools.

Panama City closes all schools for at least 14 days

PANAMA CITY, March 11 (Reuters) - Panama’s government ordered the temporary closure of all schools, public and private, due to coronavirus concerns, officials with the Central American nation’s education and health ministries said on Wednesday.

The closure will extend through at least March 20, but in much of the country, including the central, northern and San Miguelito regions, it will last until at least April 7, Education Minister Maruja Gorday said in a statement.

Students will nonetheless continue their studies via prepared lessons that will be completed at home, according to an official with the education ministry.

I think it's a bit extreme but if you are in a position of authority or responsibility you are likely to want to be accused of doing too much not too little.

Closing the schools won't hurt and it might help.

If your child doesn't have a laptop computer now would be the time to go out and buy one before its too late.

Good maybe they’ll starve. Less vectors for the pandemic.
