More than you think, although I do not know many in their 50's I've seen several in their 30's and 40's come back to teach.

what's the worst thing a kid has ever done in your class that they needed to be sent to principals office?
.... that you let them get away with?

snapped at a student and wrote in a planner because he/she was misbehaving. Turned out the mom left the night before and student was just angry. So way I acted ruined his/her perception of how a teacher should act.
If a student is misbehaving, how are you suppose to know what they are going through?

A great teacher can move a kid from a life of crime to a life of wealth. It does not happen often but if you can convert 1 child to doing something more than being a leach you have accomplished something.

If you feel a calling and can handle it sure.

Is it difficult to learn the environment some of these kids come from?
Posted on 8/3/17 at 4:20 pm to Jimmy2shoes
School records I hope not since I never finished high school...
I let kids eat them, that may be the only meal they get in the morning

A kid in my class once punched another student in the face
The kids were friends so we sat at my desk and discussed what happened extensively and the student who did the punching said he would never do it again. It never happened again

Do you teach social justice programs to your students?
Posted on 8/3/17 at 4:23 pm to OweO
By communication, if you have a good relationship with your students you understand what they go through because they State it
Posted on 8/3/17 at 4:24 pm to OweO
Yes.... Luckily I've grown up in poverty, then middle class, then upper class

I should have worded my question better. Do you teach underprivileged children? If so, how do you feel when you learn about the environment some of these kids come from?

I will say that yes I've wanted to hook up with a parent. So.e are really frickin hot, however, I haven't
Posted on 8/3/17 at 4:27 pm to OweO
Yes I teach underprivileged children, when I learn of their environment it does not change much. Those children are capable of Lear ing just as easy as someone from a middle class background

Because I think I'd be good at it, I've worked with church youth on a limited basis. And I know good teachers that care are in limited supply.

I guess that's a good thing. Probably would be awkward as hell teaching little Johnny or Jessica after banging the mom.
