Why are people getting upset by this?

Because they are close-minded, mouth breathing idiots.

They are handing out the Laptops to family that don't have the means to get one in order to help with at home learning. What is the % of Laptops you think don't make it back to the schools? I can see a few of these being sold to buy drugs or just getting broken.

Yeah frick these educators for trying to get kids an education!

Saw this on TV here in Houston. People in Lexus SUVs lined up in the parking lot to get their free computer.
Like the lady I saw at HEB paying with her Lone Star card puling it out of her Louis Vuitton wallet that was in her Louis Vuitton purse.

I love the idea. It’s a great idea...in theory.

If there was only some way to make them accountable for using the equipment as it’s intended.

I would bet these laptops are refurbished and cost very little or donated.

I mean, some of these kids and families don't have the means, so no issues with them distributing it to those in need.

I doubt these are Alienware top of the line devices and they are more likely budget friendly laptops that they are getting at a decent rate.

Either way, I've got no issues with it.

Some here will sky scream bc some of these kids actually need em

When you say loophole, do you mean written tax law?

Buy if people in Lexus suvs engage in insider trading to rip off others to enrich themselves, that's ok right?
Careful your selective outrage is showing.

Some of y’all just look for shite to get upset about

If a bunch of kids fell behind because Houston was too stupid to go virtual everyone would be just as triggered

Its interesting when you go into the homes of these children and they have big TVs and top line smartphones but there's no computer to be found.

The problem, as usual, is poor prioritizing by irresponsible people.

It’s interesting that you think having a computer is more important than a smartphone, particularly among families who probably don’t have a home internet connection.

You’re probably one of those who think flat screen TVs are fancy in 2020.

Our county is doing this. You have to check them out just like library books.

I checked one out. I have four kids that are students and I’m not buying extra devices for a few weeks of use.

Maybe some will disappear, but I doubt many people are going to risk having their kids transcripts withheld over a cheap, used $90 chromebook.

Texas school districts have the money to do this. Poor ole Louisiana can cry and be jealous all they want. The La politicians don't care about their crying.
