School Bathrooms in mid-late 1990’s

My wife was discussing bathroom etiquette with my elementary school kids today so I looked up pictures of my elementary / middle school bathroom styles to show them how spoiled they are. My wife thinks I was schooled in prison or something. She was disgusted and doesn’t believe this was how the boys bathrooms were back in the day...

I've never seen open toilets like that in a school. Looks like something out of boot camp or prison. We had the troughs in elementary school.

Well, that looks like where I went to boot camp, but definitely not like any school I ever attended in the 70s or 80s.
