Meh, not quite the same. Morocco is a pretty popular tourist destination (Marrakesh, Fes, etc.). Camping in tents by themselves was a bad decision though, obviously.

Lol at the people in this thread who are stupid enough to think Morocco is in the middle east or remotely as dangerous as Iraq/Iran.

Tunisia is a really pretty and mostly safe. So is Turkey. Morocco is a really common destination for lots of Europeans. But one incident can define a country or a region. Morocco doesn't even have a very high crime rate, and is relatively stable. That's true of most of North Africa save for Libya. Egypt has it's problems with tourists too, but given how popular Egypt is as a tourist destination, I'm surprised you don't hear more about those issues.

People see the dark skinned people and desert climate of Morocco and immediately think "middle east" therefore "terrorist" because they are ignorant and lazy.
