The Confederate flag represents a country that rebelled against the US and subsequently LOST said war of rebellion. Like it or not, it is a flag of treason against the US.
By this logic, all states that rebelled should also be removed. Backdoor success!

if you must, at least fly the actual CSA flag.

This is where I would spend my energy if I actually gave a shite about CSA flags.

Why do you support treason, brother?

If what the South did in the Civil War was treason then what the 13 colonies did in the American Revolution was treason as well.

What the South did was try to leave the Union. That's not treason. The Federal Government in turn waged a war of conquest to bring them back.

Well, no kidding. I guess that was why England went to war with the colonies?

Because it's part of history. Citadel cadets fired canons on the Union. Flag belongs there.

So should Al Queda flags fly over ground zero? What about in 140 year?

It's a part of history.

No shite. I believe Treason is the only criminal act addressed in the Constitution and there is a reason for that and there is a reason why there is such a high legal standard for someone to be labeled as committing treason. The Founding Fathers knew what they were doing.

If I'm not mistaken, the states of the CSA actually did have a good legal case at the time to leave the Union (something that was obviously explicitly made illegal after the CSA).

But if you don't think seceding from a country and then proclaiming its Federal possessions (Fort Sumter for example) as your own isn't a rebellion against the government than I don't know what is.

Article III of the Constitution:

quote:

Section 3.

Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort. No person shall be convicted of treason unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court.

The Congress shall have power to declare the punishment of treason, but no attainder of treason shall work corruption of blood, or forfeiture except during the life of the person attainted.

Of course she does. That ole injun succubus doesn't give a flying God damn about the culture and heritage of her state or anything but her own craven political whims.

Using racial slurs, albeit not a black slur, is probably not the best way to claim the flag is "history not hate"

I don't mind Gov Haley doing this but why in the hell would she put this issue back in the news and risk blowback?

Her high approval rating can easily change any second.
