The area in question is already paying for parish services (EBRSO), private service (water), or self funded services (St George Fire Dept).
Exactly

My only concern (and naturally none of us have read the amendment) was they way Carter spoke about “the city parish is not responsible for providing any services to the newly created city”.

He’s fricked either direction
Republicans want a St George vote.
Dems, mainly black ones, want him to kill it by any means necessary.
Combine the two of those with the electorate in the state and he has problems.
Numbers on the Poli board say he is only polling about 38% in a three way race and not much more than that in a runoff against either opponent. Given that undecideds break heavy against the incumbent, that isn’t good for his chances.

Which also explains why the city of BR hasn’t moved to annex the unincorporated parts into the city

May not need to build one.
Given the frickery with the city limits, the Baton Rouge Country Club at Essen and Jefferson may fall within St George.

I don’t think it is. But if it is, we’re going to have to rename it to the St George Country Club. Or maybe we let it stay BRCC just to rub it in a little.

Like I said, the borders are fricky right there.
The state archives up the street from there technically isn’t in the city and you haven’t heard bitching by state employees until you tell them they don’t get a holiday because they are one street outside of BR.

That exchange may actually be John Delgado's political legacy.

SWB and causing St George while trying to stop it are his legacy. Along with unpaid taxes.

We're all just a bunch of terrorist over here in SG.

Maybe we're bringing back Shenandoah Country Club.

All this isn't going to screw up my garbage pickup is it?
I live in central and get good service through the parish. My in-laws live in Livingston parish, pay more, and get inferior service.

With SG leaving the parish that's gonna leave a big hole for them to fill regarding services. It may have an effect.

Yeah, they definitely thought they had a silver bullet with the pension issue.
It's essentially a status quo anyway.
Why they thought it would be a silver bullet is beyond me.
Haven't they realized by now that the StG people know WAY more about the financials than these "Senators"?
