Kind of the flip side of the OT, where everyone comes to trash their SO.

Good for you, SFP.
Birthday wishes aren't any different really. If I know you well enough to tell you hbd, I'll call or at the very least text. Doing it on facebook is just to show other people.
But it used to not be that way with facebook. There used to be real connections and conversations. I'm talking '05/'06 before walls and your page was more personal and group text didn't exist.

Just seems really pathetic and beta to me.
I don't see a damn thing wrong with it. And it's certainly NOT a sign of weakness! If I was him I'd do it more just to piss people off.

It doesn't bother me. I hardly see it because I'm rarely on FB anymore. But let's not pretend it's anything other than a show for other people.

He's the male version of the needy/clingy girlfriend.

I use to defriend people who did that

They do that on Facebook, then come here to tell the truth about her.

My roommate's girlfriend CONSTANTLY posts pictures of them two on Instagram/Facebook/Snapchat story. Shitty hashtags and everything. "I'm so blessed for this man"... etc etc.
He's got a terrible fake smile in all of the pictures too.
Point being, is it okay for chicks to do it and not guys?
I guess it's still acceptable but damn it's cringe worthy.

He's building his case for the upcoming divorce. He's trying to show off for the judge that he was a loving supportive husband.

Both men and women do this in order to show their friends that someone is actually willing to put up with their shite and all-around craziness.
