Employers don’t care where you get your degree.

If that's all the kid is able to manage to get admitted to, maybe it's time to learn to weld.

It was not just the money. We toured 10 schools and the overall experience in Tuscaloosa was better than everywhere else. LSU’s scholarship offer or the tour was not impressive when trying to recruit an in state National merit finalist with a 36 ACT. As for Tulane and Rice, she hated her overnight visit to Rice and I refused to allow her to live in New Orleans and go to Tulane.

My daughter got accepted into Tulane, graduated in 2017, loved every minute of her stay there. Works in Manhattan now.

They're all very good schools. Let him make his own decision.

Is that a 2 or 4 year degree at LSU?

2 year at one of the satellite campuses. Some of us know our limitations.

Sounds like mine. Honestly LSU just isn't trying to be competitive with their recruitment of these kids. Mine toured Bama a few weeks ago and they put a lot of thought into her visit. They even found another girl from Mandeville that's in their Honors college to conduct the full one-on-one visit. Hate the school but they're killing it with academic recruiting. Scholarship $ there is way more impressive than LSU right now too.

This is a no brainer from purely an academics / reputation standpoint: Rice is the answer.

It’s in a different tier prestige wise from Tulane and SMU.

SMU has the best networking opportunities per capita for a non-target school

Maybe in Texas. Tulane would have the best networking of the three outside of the south, while Rice has the most academic prestige. SMU is a clear cut below the other two

tulane is as good of a school as SMU if not better. shite, it is better for the most part. Rice is better than both. But it all depends on how you do once you're there.

your first consideration should be cost though. I would go with whatever one gives the best financial offer. If your kid does well enough it doesn't matter where they go out of those three, they'll be well positioned regardless.
