You must have a pretty good camera on your phone or happened to be carrying a real camera.
Great pics, thanks for posting. We only have western diamondbacks here, which I would also suggest not stepping on.
Thanks man, I have a canon and a 75-300 mm lens. I do wildlife photography as a hobby.

You didn't call in an airstrike? The OT would have.

The only good snake is a dead snake.
Especially a rattler.
Especially a rattler.

Thanks for no sleep tonight.
But seriously, beautiful reptile. It’s a shame that animals with beautiful patterns are dangerous to the point they get killed.

First you purge it to make it throw the poison up…

I wouldn’t have the balls to sit there and take a picture

No doubt they’re meant to be “hey, don’t mess with me” presentations.
And those certainly work on an instinctual level, at least for me.
Rattlesnakes and cottonmouths can frick right off.

Do you want me to tell you a story about a rattle snake orgy involving, conservatively, 150ish rattlesnakes on a front porch? Do you want me to tell you that it happened in, say......West Texas and not Alabama?

It pretty much is.

That is a beautiful snake. But like someone else said above, Kill it with fire.

That would have made a beautiful belt or hat band....oh wait...............

Good on you for not killing it
I really hope you're being sarcastic.
I'm not some redneck who just kills every damned thing I run across. I've carried spiders out into my yard on the palm of my hand.
That said, there's no way I'm praising a man for not killing that monster. Yeah, maybe OP had a camera on hand but no gun, or maybe he was 15 miles into some national forest. shite happens. But anyone with any legitimate opportunity to shoot a snake like that legally should do so, and should be praised for doing it.

First, it was in a state park that is heavily protective of it's entire ecosystem.
Second, acting like that thing was some kind of legitimate threat to public safety is like being terrified of covid when you are under 50 and are in good health.
