United States history is more than what is taught in "basic" American history, which is pretty much "white history". When it comes to blacks its slavery.. Then the 60s.
And I understand why people would want to highlight their race's contribution to history. When you think of WWII, you don't think about the black people and even the native Americans that fought in the war.
When it is perceived that it was all white men who were fighting, I understand why it is important for other races to want their kids to know that people of their race contributed as well.
Seeing someone who looks like you really does matter to a kid. When I was a kid, I never saw people in a wheelchair doing anything so I never saw myself as someone with a "disability" because if I did, I would have thought I wasn't able to do the things that I had the opportunity to do. But then when there were things that I just couldn't do.. I had to watch other kids do it.. An as a kid, that make you feel like you are the only one.. So I look to think and I can understand why people want their race's history be a part of the story.
Hell, I am having a night drink.. I am just rambling.

Considering his role in government finances he'll always have a spot. We have Washington on the dollar, why not put Tubman on the quarter? "Let's to pay Tubmans" has a certain ring to it. And they would have their next series for them. Perhaps a design based off each documented escape?
I'm surprised none of you baws have suggested her replacing Grant.
