The video disproves any family theory. When it was planned he would have said there’s a camera at the front door. You can tell the guy doesn’t know the camera is there, notices it, and then covers it up.

A simple piece of tape would have solved his problem with the camera.
He stumbled around like one of the Three Stooges on their first Colorado Gummie. It appeard to me that he was a little messed up which makes it seem like this was an impulsive robbery gone bad.
BUT, if something happened to Nancy while he was inside why would he take her body? Just grab what you can and GTFO of the house.

I’m still convinced the bitcoin ransom was not from the actual culprit and probably some Russian mafia opportunists who had nothing to do with the crime or something.

Police just opened the crime scene and let the guy go. The guy they detained (Carlos) said they searched his house and didn’t find anything. Looks like they just went after the wrong guy.

Or, maybe, the family member knew that Nancy did not have a yearly Nest subscription to record things and didn’t think that there was any way they could recover this video because it wasn’t being recorded. From everything I’ve seen, the FBI went through a lot of crap to “recreate“ this video and it took some extremely sophisticated wonks and a lot of time to do it.
I have a Ring doorbell without a yearly subscription. I had no clue that they could somehow “bring back” video that was never really recorded.
Further, there have been reports that the intruder knew exactly where the inside cameras were and avoided them or disabled them. Again, we’re not sure if that’s true but if it is, that does indicate it was some sort of inside job.
Also notice that the way he walked up to the door he was clearly trying to hide his identity.

It def wasn't one of the family in the video, however, doesn't meant the family wasn't involved.
We just don't know and everything at this point is a guess.
Experts are like assholes, every news channel has them and they all stink, but one of them yesterday hypothesized the doorbell video was staged. It was too sloppy and all over the place to be serious.
