I think the writer of the article maybe taking too much editorial liberty here. Was he just "accused" or was he convicted? If he was convicted the article should say convicted.

Mecca is the holiest site for islam. It's considered so holy to muslims that infidels aren't allowed to go there.
But tortuous, public, ugly executions are allowed on that holy ground.

Crucifixion is a horrible way to die. I am all for killing murderers and rapists but the human race can do it much more humanely and efficiently.
