I am really surprised that they have not attempted terrorist attacks on Egyptian Monuments, or anything in Rome (Vatican)

Well they don't consider Italy part of the historical territory of Islam (but, parts of Spain and the Balkans are) - the Pyramids and other Egyptian sites - that is one quirky thing about the Egyptians - they consider all that part of their heritage - the ancient Egyptian era, the Ptolemy stuff, Islamic - all of it - and, I guess whatever comes afterwards.

Plus, they aren't going to draw millions of tourists to see blown up pyramids and Sphinx. (And, to be honest, I think blowing up the Great Pyramids would be a bigger job than you might think.)

But it doesn't stop them from selling antiquities to support their bullshite cause. This one was just too big to sell in any way, so they use it for PR.

These people have been fighting for thousands of years. I am not sure why we think we can make a difference.

The only difference that needs to made is preventing them - or anybody else - from destroying irreplaceable pieces of civilization's history.

If wiping these people from the face of the Earth is what it takes, so be it.

As a Catholic, can i sue ISIS? The damages they caused to those ruins have me in shambles. I can't work today or anytime soon.

This shite pisses me off so much and I don't know why. I just hate seeing something like this happen for no fricking reason.

A ruined temple, that no one has used in forever, is somehow a slight to their faith? I don't buy it. If it was still used, sure, but that thing hasn't been occupied in forever.

They CLAIM its a false idol. Nothing should be protected or sacred besides Muslim holy sites. They also wish to erase history that is not in the Qur'an, making that the only story that is told...ever.

They do it because they know it pisses the world off.

But this is the correct answer.

A lot of Muslim holy sites have fallen victim to ISIS as well.

The only acceptable place would be a Sunni mosque I believe.

If a religion tells it's followers to do things, they will do them. Some will take those instructions or interpretations to extremes.

What is there to gain from the destruction of historical sites?

ISIS is offended by the sites so they must be destroyed so as not to hurt anyone's feelings. It's the American way, bruh. We should commend ISIS for coming into line with Western thinking on this. As a progressive society, we know and appreciate that the best way to demonstrate social tolerance is to be intolerant.

The US and South Korean joint exercise should've been carried out on ISIS. They would have gotten demolished by that practice force.

Seems to me like they like to attack ancient ruins. Sounds like a good place to set up an ambush, like a lion waiting around a watering hole...
