I heard more than two gunshots, and they sounded a bit different. Could be distance to the shot.

I unfortunately have heard the recording of a guy that committed suicide while on the phone with a suicide prevention hot line. His first shot to the head didn’t kill him, from the screaming it was incredibly painful, and he quickly finished the job with a second shot. I have also been in a hospital ER when a women who tried to end here life by shooting herself in the head was brought in. She did a lot of damage to the front of her head, but she was alert and talking.

I recall some teenage girl years ago tried to kill herself, but instead just blew her face off yet lived.

A person shooting themselves in the head twice is not actually a rare thing. Often times a person doesn't get it done on the first shot, but their adrenaline allows them a second try.

I remember being shown a picture on that rotton.com website years ago. It was allegedly from an emergency room where someone had blown off their lower jaw and nose in an attempted suicide.
Dunno if that guy ultimately survived but missing your brain and destroying most of your face would make him an uncommon tinder match.
