I kinda feel like if you don't live here, you shouldn't comment. Naivety of the Bay Area makes you unable to pontificate on our current predicament.

Right...because a 340% increase is totally reasonable right? I mean he can just move to a cheaper place somewhere nearby....much like one would do there in red stick?

Wake up. That's not how things work here. What happens when the job you love...taking care of the people here, no longer affords you the ability to live ANYWHERE?

Life ain't fair sweetheart. Those are the detriments of renting. You have no say so in the matter.

I rent btw.

Yep. As a renter, it's just the truth. Unless you specifically have a clause in your contract protecting you from your rent being raised, the owner can raise the rent as they deem fit whenever lease renewals comes up.

$1800 a month rent for a 3 BR apt with views of the Bay in North Beach?

He has basically been living there for free for the past 6 years. That is unheard of in SF. It is basically impossible unless you are grandfathered in on some kind of rent control agreement.

He needs to be thankful for his 6 years and then move to somewhere he can afford.

the demand in San Francisco is insane. I can see why. It is a great place to live.

I'll never understand the retards who live in NYC or SF and live in a tiny, run down apartment with roommates for the same or more than what I pay to have 4 bedrooms, an acre of land, and 2500+ square feet.

At what price does paying rent stop making sense?

Money is money, bro.

But actually, if rent in a shitty apartment is more than 1/3 Of your take home pay, you're doing it wrong.

Maybe they don't need four bedrooms, 2500 square feet, or an acre of land and they're looking for more out of their nights than slathering on OFF and having a bonfire next to the shed?

California has good weather, opportunity, and a lot of stuff to do. But you are on point. The illegals, 3rd world foreigners, liberal socialist politics and way over priced living ruin that state. California is beyond hope and a lost cause. Definitely one of the least American states in this union.

It is a 340% increase because of artificial rent control

Bro, we all have access to Google Street View. We can all see what you see, making us more than qualified to comment on it. If anything, we're more objective and you should ask for our opinions.

Obviously, you guys have not experienced a housing crunch like we have. That's cute how you guys say to just buy...I have the money to purchase but it's hard to compete with all cash buyers out of China.
It's easy to pass judgement when the biggest competition you have us coming out of west Monroe. Bottom line....SF needs people to empty their garbage, make their coffee, and care for their sick....BUT WE CANT AFFORD TO LIVE HERE.
