Gotta be kidding me. Saying "that's a steal" doesn't cover it.
I pay a little under $1800 for a one bedroom. He knew he was getting over.

Wow! But in California there are
-over 300 colleges
-over 30 military bases
-over 3.5million businesses
Soooo many of these people are NOT from Cali. And there is some fun and money to be had in Cali that only it can offer.

Then again he may have been month-to-month, and (usually) under these you can raise the rent after giving adequate notice.
Then he's still an idiot for signing a month-to-month lease

Apartments of similar size in the area rent for an average of $6800 a month. Still, Hutchinson’s building is more than 100-years-old and a bit run down.

You mean gangs shooting each other, legalized drugs and sodomites kissing in public? I'm trying to raise a family here, we don't have time for your "California Fun".

You seem like a miserable person. That's a whole lot of hate for a place you've never even been to.

Hundreds of thousands of people in Cali "get over" like that in Cali, its called rent control! I had a buddy that lives right next to the beach in the nicest area of Santa Monica and the last I heard, a few years ago, he was only paying $650 a month for a huge 2bd 2bth apartment that would easily be $4000-$5000 if not for rent control. He has been in the unit since the early 90s and is never moving.

Sure this sucks for him, but that's a bit dramatic when you can just find another apartment, no?

So I guess you didn't read my previous post where I clearly stated

How about reading the whole post before jumping to conclusions?

Luckily I've never had the misfortune of going to California, but I can definitely support the truth of this statement. That place is a shite hole.

So you've never been, but you are gathering all of your opinions based on Google Street view?

Stupid to rent anywhere for 1800 also.
For a three bedroom with bay views in any halfway decent city, $1800 is a steal.

You have not spent a single second in California, have you?
I see more violence on a daily basis in NOLA, than I did in 3 years in California.

It's ok, he's googled some images of the area. He's basically a local.

MEMO to Union Video Engineer Neil Hutchinson:
Your pension plan is based on supply & demand, I wonder if you'll be willing to take a lower return because it's "fair" to other people when it comes time for you to begin to draw it?
