well, we see if actually organizes well enough, because as of right now it is still a mess with most convection displaced to the southeast

This is expected at this point.

Optimism rises a little if it's still this tilted tonight.

The CDO looks good. What factors into it vertically stacking? I know there's shear present.

Except on Sunday before it hit it was already a CAT 5 as wide as the Gulf of Mexico. Let's not compare LSU 2019 to the Delgado CC football team.

Shear is the big thing. It tilts a weak system like this.

it is still fairly unorganized and has only little over a day before it's starting to knock on the door of the coast i'd be surprised if it makes hurricane status, but of course i've been wrong before

And now we are all fricked

But that’s dumb because when it makes landfall, it has about 70-100 miles to go before it hits NOLA

Not exactly much “land” between New Orleans and the coast. And the eye wall which is the worst part of the storm is out in front of the center so by the time the center makes landfall the eye wall could almost be a third of the way to New Orleans. It won’t strengthen on it’s way to New Orleans but I wouldn’t make my plans based off it weakening any.

I never like when conditions are favorable for substantial strengthening the day before landfall. I’m not saying it’s a Laura or a Michael or a Harvey but it’s not good when hurricanes have a chance to make landfall at peak intensity.

My grandparents who never leave for any storms are leaving venetian isles. So take that for what it's worth for those out that way

And Laura was supposed to bring 15-20 ft to Lake Charles. Unsurvivable, remember?

DVinBR meet Peej.

No. They are saying a Tuesday landfall... not enough time to intensify. It may reach hurricane strength, but will not get to a cat 2. Even though the weather channel is hoping it will.....

The lake was supposed to cover all of Lake Charles according to TWC and put houses underwater much like Katrina.
