My parents were in Perdido and were supposed to head back to Nola Sunday. They ended up staying in Perdido to avoid it. Bad call. As of an hour ago they still had power. Idk how long that will last.

WWL is reporting a levee topped in St. Bernard. Is that normal?

I don't think those are real levees. More like Bob's levee.

The storm surge paired with 20 inches of rain is a disaster. The water can't flow out to the Gulf so it will just pile up. The creeks and rivers won't be able to discharge ( ) any water until Thursday.

That's what I was saying earlier. Strengthening doesn't matter at this point. With the wind field broadening and the storm crawling, between surge and rain, this is a very dangerous storm.

Docks have been getting ripped apart all day by the waves and surge in the bays. I assume that’s what he means but certainly don’t want to speak for him

Yep, thing to be most worried about with this storm was always the rain with how slow it is moving. Some places are going to get absolutely dumped on.

Yeah most of the docks I’ve seen have been underwater all day.

Yea it’s getting a little gnarly. Both my neighbors have had big limbs fall. We have monster pines all around our house so I hope I’m not woken up by something bad...

AU_251, If there is any chance that a large pine will fall on your house, make sure you and no one else with you is in that part of the house that could get hit with a tree. If there is no room that is not in the potential line of fire, I would strongly consider getting out and going to someone else's place.

Stay safe.

Good point here. Lumber has skyrocketed. I expect that we’ll see a lot of docks I repaired for a long time following this.
I heard builders have shut down jobs due to unavailability of lumber. It won’t get any better following Sally

Like gone, gone. The water came up, started beating on the bottom of the pier boards. It all came loose and floated away. I saw multiple docks float by in ole river that were blown out. It’s going to be awhile before I take the boat again, too much crap in the water.
