Not really anything in the cards except if Sally weakens considerably and drifts west as a result.

At this point to get to New Orleans, it would need to fall apart about right now and a much weaker but still rain filled storm moves to about due south of the city by mid morning.

In other words...it's getting difficult to imagine a realistic scenario that could really do it.

HWRF and HMON correct for the current state of the system. Maybe still too quick to strengthen out the gate but show not much strength added overnight and don't really get a proper core wrapped around until tomorrow. Both do get the storm sub 970 and back to about 100-105 mph.

HWRF goes to Biloxi and HMON Dauphin Island. Also both landfall in 24-30 hours from now. Long slow march ahead.

And now, sleep

You Mississippi and Alabama baws and gaws have my prayers. It’s too bad we can’t send this thing packing up to Portland.

Looking at this recon pass there were some 981 readings and one 980.8 near the center. It might be strengthening again

Looks like it moved west again while I slept a bit. I’m beginning to wonder if this will continue that way slowly and hit central Mississippi or east of New Orleans.

Anyone post the lawn chairs meme yet? Looks like we dodged another one out in Metairie.

A little west again on 4 AM update. Downgraded to a Cat 1 and moving 2 mph. Weather Channel app now showing landfall just on the west side of the Alabama - Mississippi state line. Guess at this rate it will hit in about a week.

For the new orleans people- It needs to stay due West or extreme WNW for the next solid 12-14 hours, before y'all can get excited. As of now, the experts have it making the Northern push prior to that.

Dauphin Island shouldn't really have homes on it, and after this week there may not be many left

It's still just not making much headway west at all,and upwelling and shear are becoming factors.

If I were in Pensacola I would be wary of this thing pulling an Ivan on me,it's likely never going to see Louisiana or Mississippi and once it starts trying to creep poleward it 's going to want to turn NNE or NE IMO.

Mobile radar site is down. Bad time for that. They think they’ll have it back up later this morning, though.

As slow as this thing is it probably won't have moved much
