Or simply it's not a forward movement change but an organizational one.

Concur, but likely an important one for final landfall. You’d imagine this is a good thing for SELA in that respect.

It's ridiculous.

Whether it's Coronavirus or hurricanes people have completely lost the ability to evaluate risk.

Maybe it's lawyers, maybe it's the media, broadcast and social but whatever it is, it has become misaligned to say the least.

A few weeks ago, on a Saturday, my wife's school district announced a closure from Monday - Thursday and failed to reevaluate when it was obvious there was no need to close.

This go around they waited until Sunday and announced closure through Wednesday.

How do y’all think this stuff is supposed to work? If it was up to this board Lake Charles schools would have been open all week since Laura made landfall overnight and was out of the area by morning.

You're comparing a potential for tropical storm force winds in Baton Rouge to a Category 5 hurricane

No. No I’m not.

I’m saying what this board would have wanted on the whole.

Based on Tropical Tidbits, it looks like TD Twenty One has been named TS Vicky.

So this board would have wanted kids to go back to school the day after Laura in LC with no roof or way to physically get to their school?

Apparently I’m nuts because I think schools should be open when a storm is still 40 hours from landfall

Weird since the current forecast has it in the nola area in like 28 hours

Anything to slow west progression of center is good for SELA, yeah.

Also I'll add, considering the school closures. It's for an entire parish, and let's use Livingston. Sure Denham is probably no problems but places like French Settlement and Maurepas are also in the parish and families there have potential water into the Lake to consider.

Mostly though I find the bitching about school closures exhausting.
