and the only thing I despise more than shaving is fighting a freshly washed fitted sheet onto a bed.
Helpful Hint: Try drying them first.

BIC Flex 3 for me, each one can last me at least a month and I have a full beard (if I’d let it grow out).

I have a box somewhere full of safety razor and shaving paraphernalia. Couple of vintage Gilletes, an older Schick, and a newer Merkur, probably around 100 double edged razor blades(Derby was my preferred brand), shave soaps, shave creams, after shave, shave oil, brushes, etc.

But now I have a beard and have no use for that stuff. It does get you a better shave, but the tradeoff is the process is more time consuming.

Is there a good one with that pivots as the disposables do?

Fisher-Price makes a good one.

Tried to do a straight razor shave myself one day. Took two hours to stop the bleeding after I sliced my cheek. I made a PERFECT cut.

My chin has a couple of nooks or crevices that are a bitch to get with a straight razor and I"m tired of cutting myself in those areas.

Pics, please, of the safety razors that you have freshened. Thank you.

I don't know how to post pics here. Well, I do, but I don't have an image hosting account that I can remember the password to.
I use an ultrasonic cleaner to sanitize, and then I polish the plating and make sure the adjustments and closure all work properly. I then put them back in the cleaner for a final sanitizing. I do the same to any cases or blade dispensers that I have.
I am thinking of getting into replating at some point. Many vintage razors have significant wear to the plating, and even when cleaned and polished, they don't perform as well. Replating would bring it as close to new as possible, even though the value won't be the same as an original razor.
I'm in Alabama, but I haven't had the time to do many the past few months. I've been too busy elsewhere. I have a box with quite a few that need attention, but finding the time has been the issue.

Really?

I knew he died but not the cause.

Yeah. The barber was a good friend of his. He told me that he had some financial troubles and he’d had a falling out with his daughter.

Why do you use these razors novelty? Or do they really shave well?

for me, they shave as well as the disposable razors. but there is zero irritation. i used to get a lot of skin irritation after shaving, even with quality shaving creams and aftershaves.

i started using a merkur, persona blades, l'occitane shaving soap, and brickell's aftershave to wet shave. haven't looked back, and i actually enjoy the ritual of shaving now more than ever.
