How am I supposed to trust that these kids will give their minority applicants, customers, patients, defendants, etc fair and equal treatment?
well it's pretty obvious that the ringleaders of the situation on that bus would not do so

That is precisely where the proverbial rubber meets the road, I agree.

This SAE thing actually happened. Show me some video of a black frat chanting about killing white people and I'll be just as upset.
No you clown. What if a group of black students use the n word.... What then?

You learn behaviours from your parents and your peers and from what they allow you to believe is acceptable. A university is the first big handoff between the two. IMO - It is up to the school to pick up the mantle of building a better person. Condoning this type behaviour through non-action would be disgusting.

This board goes into unjust assaults and tirades on black parenthood if a black child sneezes on himself. So I used the same illogical, off base rhetoric that is prevalent in these parts.
2 points
1. these kids are in a pretty decent college, so the parents did the vast majority of their jobs correctly
2. the vast majority of people in this thread are ripping apart the frat members and the girls involved

Their words don't hurt, it's their behavior and their willingness to hold these beliefs in private
So you want to punish people for private thoughts?
Wow.

Well, their thoughts would have to be made public somehow.

I'm sure these kids have enough book smarts, $, and connections to become successful. They can go back to their homogenous enclaves and not have to worry about retributions... So they can go back to Dallas, Houston, Birmingham, Atlanta, etc you name it

This is awful. To a certain extent, I'll excuse ignorant college kids' behavior as kids being stupid kids - but this goes way beyond that. Participants in that chant should be suspended from the university (if they haven't already). If this situation ruins their lives, I say, "Good."

well that brings up an excellent point. ignoring all of the group-social pressure, somebody obviously took issue
and that somebody made sure to let the video get out

I see strong safety is still bitter because he's black.

Look here, simpleton:
Show me an analogous video of a black university sanctioned frat carrying on about killing white people, and I will be just as livid.
But that is not the matter at hand.
The fact that you throw this out there time and again is deflection at its finest.

good on who ever did it
they were probably feeling uncomfortable as frick
while the people doing the song felt right at home and didn't even notice is being recorded or bother to stop them.
If you feel you are doing something wrong you just won't let someone video tape you, unless you don't care or you are an idiot.

i will expand your point, though
that kid from UC-Irvine who voted to ban the US flag is just as prejudiced against those outside of his group ID/bubble
as a person outside of his group identification, ham I supposed to trust that those within his group ID will give applicants, customers, patients, defendants, etc outside their bubble fair and equal treatment?
this sort of in/out group dynamic and discrimination exists all over in every group. it's a part of our DNA
i'm not justifying it in either example. i'm just saying that the issues you raise apply across the board. group ID based on race is a very small portion of the issues you present

Why do you keep avoiding my question.
If the words is offensive, and a group of black kids at OU use it.... Should they also be punished?

I know it happens at HBCUs, but why is it never videoed and released? Is it "white guilt" that makes white people seem to rat on each other in these instances? Black folk stick together more than white people?
shite next to never happens. My freshman year at Xavier we played another HBCU in basketball they had one white kid on their team. He was the only white person in the gym. Everybody cheered for this kid ecstatically when he touched the ball. Now here you had the only white kid in the gym who played for our opponents and we cheered that kid on like he was second coming of Larry Bird. His confidence was through the roof and he later told the crowd thank you it was his best career game. We won but still we supported him and never shouted things like get whitey or foul that cr@cker.

I think the University did it for show. It doubt it could withstand a legal challenge.
Now, the SAE Nationals did the right thing and they had every right to do it. It's their private organization and they can run it as they see fit.

again, in a slight defense, the vast majority of people would have joined in, whether they agreed or not
social pressure is a very strong influence on behavior, esp short-term behavior. there are some crazy experiments in this area
psychologists have gotten people to agree on much more insane concepts than joining in a racist chant
obviously some people (and it may be the vast majority in that bus) did agree with the chant, but i can't judge everyone based on that clip
