Wait, is this real?
He and I dated 2 girls that were best friends for nearly 2 years. We had countless beers together.

He was very successful it seemed and had a lot going for him, but you just never know what people are going through.
Banking/Finance is a rough industry, that has its rewards, but not without its sacrifices. Sometimes having the money and success isn't all its cracked up to be.
I enjoyed THFs posts and am deeply saddened to hear of his passing. Will definitely be throwing up some prayers to big guy for his family.

Goes to show you never know what kind of demons people struggle with. Really sad stuff

Damn. I can't tell you how many times he and I would drag those girls to Pluckers at 2am after JLs.
He was a good guy. RIP, bother. I'll join you one day on the other side.

Robin Williams effect or whatever it was called

I think the saddest people always try their hardest to make people happy because they know what it’s like to feel absolutely worthless and they don’t want anyone else to feel like that.

All the money in the world isn't worth it if you're miserable. It's tough in really competitive fields like banking...there's always more to achieve, more to do, and it's super competitive/cutthroat

Very sad news. He was a pretty high profile poster and much-respected. I hope he has found the peace that eluded him in life. Bless him and his family and I hope that the most opinionated among us will strive to understand the sad reality that is depression rather than judge his final action.
RIP Flask. Thanks for making this a better place.

I see he went to VC and was from Gueydan. Never knew he was from Da Parish?

I wonder why we don't focus more on mental illness. We all suffer from it at some point in our lives, but it always seems like a taboo subject to talk about.

i dunno but i was going to post earlier that these stories, when they "hit home", are good for a place like the OT that usually treats the S-word like it's unexplainable and then they talk shite about the person who did it.
i think one major issue is that punitive response to mental issues, even if it's not a psychological issue and is literally a biological defect that can be objectively shown to exist
lots of professional licensing, like being a lawyer, basically punishes you if you admit to having a psychological issue

Damn. I hadn't seen his posts for a while. He used to be very prolific on the recruiting board and I enjoyed reading his posts there.
Shooter McGavin from the RAT era also died (car accident).
CFA Charter is damn hard. I'd say on par with a PhD or law review. RIP, man.

Count I wish I could say I knew you. I'm transplanted here.

If ever there was a 'baw' and a poster child for what this forum is when at its best, it was Will.
Rest easy kiddo.

That line tore me up Drank. These things will never be the same to the people who loved him.

yeah i was going to make a post about that earlier but didn't know if it was proper, but the recruiting board has lost 2 titans over the years

I hope you went out like a champ, you magnificent bastard.

Your loss. But I'm older than him and did not personally know him.
