I didn't realize so many posters were friends with this guy.
I believe the obit says he was the president of the Acadiana chapter of TAF, a member of Theta Xi, and he went to LSU for 6 years total, so he's pretty well engrained with this place. I think a lot of people knew THF and they knew Will, but they now know they were one in the same.

I didn't know him but I think "successful", "type A," "perfectionist" type of people can have a difficult time that may not be visible to people on the outside.
Actually on the contrary, it appears that every thing is going great. It can become more difficult for those with high expectations to deal with the bad things that happen in life.
It doesn't appear to me that a lot of people with low expectations commit suicide. Just trying to make sense of things. Obviously without knowing him, I have no idea if this applies to him.
May he RIP.

Absolutely. People with a lot of drive are also the ones who can hide the most demons. They have invested a lot in their future and their career is a huge part of their identity. Disillusionment, being passed over for a promotion or anything that derails them even temporarily can have devastating consequences.

I knew him here. Read about him IRL after first seeing the news this morning (I was driven by thinking it may have been an old friend of mine).
Awareness. THF had every indication of having everything in the world going for him relatively speaking. If someone like that can fall into this hole, seems like almost anyone could. So sad. We've got to find a way to break through on this issue. Don't know what else to say just can't fathom it. Maybe later would be a better time.

Ton of truth in that Roger. When other people have high expectations of you, or you have high expectations of you, you can be knocking it out of the park on many fronts, but shortcomings and temporary setbacks can seem insurmountable in ones own mind. So sad.

didn't know the guy but way to young!

Really sad to hear this. I liked him as a poster. As people have said, it's hard to know what goes through someone's mind, especially someone who has closed himself off from the world.
If anyone else is struggling with it, just talk to someone about it rather than holding it in and snapping like this. There's someone out there more than willing to help and guide you to the light. Just don't stay down in the darkness alone, because you'll drown yourself.
My prayers go out to his friends and family.

I knew Will years and years ago as I previously stated in this thread, then a year or two ago there was one of those weird "post your picture" threads and he posted a real picture of himself, to which I realized who he was. I laughed at the time.

This 100%. If someone you know is struggling or if you yourself are...get tested.

This is the second person I've really known to commit suicide, the first being ten years ago or so now. I'm having the same exact feelings this time around. It's simply torturous trying to rationalize what may have happened. It's utterly incomprehensible, and the brain has an extraordinarily difficult time coming to grips with that. He had just passed L3, had a fiancé and child, was on a good pace professionally, and had football season right around the corner. There's simply no reason for him to end his life under those circumstances. The first person I knew who did it did it under circumstances that were at least a little easier to rationalize. But this ... this is a tough one to take.
It just goes to show you never know what someone else may be going through. The person you flip off and honk your horn at on the road could be the person on the edge of the cliff looking for some semblance of human compassion to convince them this world is worth staying in. Don't ever forget that. Cherish every minute and every memory. Treat everyone with kindness.
Will, you will be sorely missed. But even in your hour of death, you've been able to share some insight with each of us here. My sincere hope is that you've found your peace now.
