North Korea with one single solitary 1940's style a-bomb is WAYYYYYYYYY scarier to me than this.

No, he'll declare Europe a safe space and ask the russkies what their preferred pronouns are

Hopefully not. But the situation in Europe is getting worrisome. You've got Russia headed by a megalomaniac with delusions of returning Russia to its Soviet era glory. And he's spent the last several years building their military back up to real world power levels. Meanwhile NATO is a shell of its former self. Europe is virtually undefended and disarmed. And the real power in NATO, namely the US, has cut the shite out of its own military, has stretched whats left of its military thin by getting tied up in the Middle East. And on top of that we're like $20,trillion in debt. Hell, we couldn't afford another big war. The danger in all this is that all these things, when looked at together, makes a Russian push into Europe look at least plausible from their perspective. And when war looks plausible to your enemy, that's when wars start. I'm not saying it's about to kick off. But there is danger because from the Russians point of view, it looks like it could possibly be winnable.
Holy shitballs...
NATO is a bull in a china shop accountable to no one. Did you not catch the part where john McCain and v. Nuland where actively encouraging protesters in Kiev? Let's say politicians from china, n Korea, or Iran were actively protesting in Mexico City to overthrow the Mexican government and there was a military alliance encroaching up to the US border.
The military is being gutted? We spend more on the military than everyone else in the world combined. It is a massive drain on the country.

The same Obama that led large scale military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan that also funded rebel groups (indirectly creating ISIS)

Russia has its eyes on reclaiming Eastern Europe. In this regard aircraft carriers would be of little to no use.
ETA: Downvote it all you want. But anyone who knows shite about this subject knows aircraft carriers would be of little to no use in a war fought in Eastern Europe.
Damn It!! If we could only figure out some way to refuel all of our planes in the air!! Or develop a missile that could fly to a precise location. One of those drone thingys that everyone seems to be flying in their backyards with a bomb on it would be cool too!

NATO is a joke from a military standpoint and has been since the end of the Cold War.

We've restructured our military to fight "low intensity counter-insurgency" warfare. We are totally unprepared for a conventional European war. And it pains me to say that. First, we have very little left in Europe. Second, we'd have a hard time scrounging up enough forces to ship to Europe if war ever does come. And even then it's doubtful they'd get there before the Russians reach the Rhine in force.
Bottom line is this. Russia has spent the last decade or so rebuilding and rearming their armed forces to fight a Contenental war in Europe. And Europe and the US has done little to nothing to counter.

That's because we spend billions developing one jet that gets scrapped.
They spend millions on bodies, guns, and shite that goes boom

Air refuelers would be one of the first thing the Russians would target. And they are basically sitting ducks. Plus, even with air refulers it does not resolve the matter of the carriers 1. being needed to escort convoys across the Atlantic and 2. the carriers being vulnerable to ground air and missile attack if they move close enough to central or eastern Europe to be of any use.

Yes, we have them and so do the Russians. But what you're failing to take into account is that unlike the wars you've watched on cable news the last decade plus, Russia is a foe with a modern air force and a modern SAM network. Yes we would be able to hit them, but it would not be easy nor would it be without taking losses. The bottom line is any air campaign we'd launch would have to rely on ground based aircraft operating out of Germany (at least until Germany was overrun), Italy, and Great Britain. Which this leads me to a question. Do you have any idea how much of a fighter force we have in Europe today? That would be six. Six fighter squadrons. We have zero bomber squadrons and zero ground attack squadrons. Thus, as soon as war broke out, we'd have to undertake a massive redeployment of air assets to Europe. And while the planes themselves can get there pretty quick, it takes time to get all the support personnel and gear there. Time we probably don't have to spare.

Drones? Is this a joke? You think drones would be the answer?
You cannot operate drones over contested air space. They'll never reach their targets before they're blasted from the sky. Drones...

It's making us all poorer. The military is like a heavily armed post office. You can't be conservative and support a massive, wasteful government mercenary army.

I don't keep up with this stuff as much as some of you, but didn't Putin basically control the Ukraine when Obama came into office?
The top leaders of the government were aligned with Russia, then they had an independent election and booted out the leader(s) that were puppets of Putin.
And although Putin reacted by taking a port in the Crimea in an area of mainly Russian speaking Ukrainians,
he basically lost control of the Ukraine since Obama has been in office.
Where am I wrong on that?
