I just had an idea. Send divers to weld all of the submarine hatches shut.

2. Ship deploys mobile drone sonar network effectively detecting/tracking the movement of ship formations to be relayed in realtime to Russian antiship assets

The equipment of the seabed station processes the received sonar information and forwards it to the command centre. For this purpose, the device contains a special pop-up buoy that transmits data via communications satellites.
Seems like after deployment these stations are rather (without further deep sea intervention) static. They also need to deploy a "pop-up buoy", also have a antennae "multiple meters long". It seems like this type system would be open to "countermeasures" providing your fleet had capabilities to locate and approach the deployed locations.
I'm not even sure Russia would complain publicly due to the loss of "face" as they would have to admit the USN had capability to render their latest weapon partially impotent. Would likely only have to create a few "holes" in the net...….

So they have one?
Bring it

We have plenty of hunter killer submarines

If you destroyed their passive surveilence during peacetime operations, you set the precedent for your own SOSUS system sensors to be destroyed
The way the bouy system sounds like it is designed, you could alter the length of the umbilical. Using ocean currents you could theoretically randomize the location of the transmissions. We would know the general area a hydrophone was placed but not the precise location. It would be a challenge locating them all and I would imagine Russia deploying hundreds if they are cheap enough. This would eat up some considerable naval resouces to completely eliminate.

No US Navy fast attack guy has ever said this.
The optempo my boat was on surely wasn’t indicative of this.

Nuclear torpedo is dumb. Just look at underwater explosions in Bikini Atoll and imagine what will happen to this sub if it is within 100 miles or so when the torpedo explodes.
It is likely self-powered by a nuclear reactor and has a range of thousands of miles and can dive thousands of feet below the surface. It's an underwater drone more than a torpedo. Think "underwater cruise missile" instead of "torpedo".

Glad we don't have a passive president

I don't have knowledge worth a shite but I would imagine size doesn't mean much in this realm
You're right to an extent. The size while impressive also makes it ungainly. What's impressive are its capabilities as stated in the OP
This is the most versatile clandestine warship I've ever read about.
Big doesn't mean shite. Is it quiet is what you should be asking. If it's not quiet and can be tracked then it won't matter what it's capabilities are as it will be shadowed by a fast attack and/or SSBN. USN will not allow this sub to just operate in secret.

How long before one ends up at the bottom of the sea?

When I was twelve, I helped my daddy build a bomb shelter in our basement because some fool parked a dozen warheads 90 miles off the coast of Florida. Well, this thing could park a coupla hundred warheads off Washington and New York and no one would know anything about it till it was all over.

I didn’t realize we had so many submarine warfare experts on the OT. Makes sense though.
For you non-bubbleheads, it should concern you that the 3 of us that were actual submariners in this thread realize what a risk this is to our capabilities.
Sub tracking isn’t like you see in the movies.

Audio of an actual active ping would blow their fragile little minds.

You're absolutely right. The biggest threat from this ship will be it strategically deploying assets prior to shots being fired.

Officially known as Project-09852, the submarine was originally an Oscar II-class cruise missile submarine that the Russian government ran out of funds to complete. The submarine hull sat unfinished until Moscow decided to complete it as a special mission submarine.
“Project-09852” is Russian for “House Poor”.

however, with our current high tech fighter jets, no ship or missile is coming close to our carriers. If they start something we can retaliate on their cities immediately.

Should be easy to track .

Gasman I was a Navy nuke so I am very familiar with our capabilities. While this new sub is a threat for sure it is nothing the USN can't handle. Russia isn't as capable as some would believe especially in their sub fleet. They don't have the resources to even maintain many of the boats they had so they parked some of them. This new boat was born because RUSSIA RAN OUT OF MONEY to complete the original boat and it sat as an unfinished hull for years. I don't have much faith that they will be able to run a new state of the art boat with all the new systems this boat is supposed to have. I have even less faith they will be able to run it quietly and avoid detection.
