Looking for something pretty light weight as most cardio is HIIT training type stuff, sprints, and the occasional box jumps

I rarely if ever do outside/treadmill long distance running.

If you are into long distance, I would definitely suggest getting a silverado. I'm pretty sure Chevy makes em. Mine has already taken me 100k+ and my feet have felt great.

Buying one from OT recommendations is a really bad idea.
A great shoe for me might be terrible for you.
Go to a running store and get your foot and stride analyzed and then properly fitted.

Go to varsity and get fitted, blah blah blah. Bonus: you can buy their tshirt and fit in with all of the other out of shape loons that can't run 1/2 mile.

You don't use running shoes for HIIT, brotha.

The Nike free are great. Super lightweight and fit like a sock. Great for HIIT training, but not the best for stability if you're encorporating power lifts into your workout.

And in my opinion and I mean no offense. For the amateur athlete who occasionally works out, a shoe is a fricking shoe.

As far as brands go, Brooks and Asics are pretty much the best in the business.

Brooks Ghost and Asics GEL are usually the most widely recommended for each.

Then spending money on running shoes makes sense.

Asics and New Balance both make good running shoes. I prefer Asics.

go to a varsity sports place and get fitted. The worst thing is a running shoe that doesn't fit right.

Spend the extra 10-15 one time then order the same shoe style online forever.

I like Brooks. The nikes I had were trash

Go to a shoe store that will analyze your feet for the appropriate shoe. My wife runs, and she did this, and they can analyze pronation, etc etc...

She ended up with some Brooks running shoes. Expensive, but good for her feet.

Worst shoes I've ever owned. In fairness, they weren't running shoes.

Get fitted at a local running store. The best part of that is they often have 30 day return policy even on worn shoes. One person's foot is not the same as another.

Why get fitted when he is not going to do any distance running?
