The theme of this thread so far has been so that you can avoid the trashiness of public school and the bad eggs they have, NOT b/c you want to raise your children in a catholic environment. Granted I can see how they sort of go hand in hand, but this hasn't been mentioned at all yet. Stick to one point man

You can't even argue against the original point because you are clueless as to the demographics of NOLA catholic schools. How are you still not getting that?

From my experience with public schools in laffy, Catholics schools are worth every penny.

So according to you, zero people should live in any of the major cities in South La for the most part?

Now that's a bit of a reach there.

But it is voluntary.

What happens if you don't pay?

Non magnets, there are only a few. Mandeville would be the only one in the greater NOLA area(and you have to cross a bridge)
Every high school in St. Tammany, except Salmen and maybe Slidell, are good. Belle Chasse HS is also pretty good. That's pretty much it though.

More difficult to get your future kids in the school, maybe?

So it's just a Catholic guilt thing they try and pull?

You say that like it's a bad thing. It's not like there is a minimum alum donation each year that is forced upon anyone.

Didn't mean for it to come across like that. Its a great thing. I'm one of those alumni.

Because location played a bigger role. Rummel was the East Jeff Catholic School, only die hards would send their kids into the city.

maybe, but im just pointing out they competed for years to the point where they had more students than any of those other schools.

No, it's a "we provided you a very good education at a lower price because of past students donating and maybe you would like to continue that tradition" thing.

Ben Franklin in Orleans is a much better school. Lusher High is likely on par with Mandeville.

I think Metairie has a changing demographic. The key demo for Rummel is leaving the area.

What kid wants to go to Ben Franklin tho. You don't get a great high school experience like you would at these catholic schools

Got it. I was late to the discussion and missed that.

I wouldn't be quick to say that.
