Bonnabel had a NMS and they made a huge banner that was hung on the school that stayed up there forever. I think a tornado finally blew it away.
I remember that poor girl's picture was plastered right there on the Interstate for years.

I had one kid graduate from Jesuit, and have another one there now.
Here is the problem. The universe of available kids has shrunk. There simply aren't enough kids throughout the archdiocese to fill all of these high schools. There will have to be casualties. De La Salle was the first to flirt with closing, and it went co-ed. It's enrollment is still way down.
It only makes sense that Rummel is struggling and may not make it. The historical Rummel demographic (neighborhood Metairie boys) is smaller, and most are choosing to go into the city to better (Jesuit, BM) or newer (HC) schools. The more working class kids who used to go to Rummel are being siphoned off by public schools. It does not look good for Rummel or Chappelle.

McMain has always been #2 in Orleans Parish behind Franklin. Looking at those scores, Lusher is #2 and McMain is #3 now.
one year while I was there, we were ranked #5 in the state

Just barely. I think McMain having a middle school of some potential Ben Franklin transfers helps their numbers. Grace King's High School numbers ACT and TOPs were slightly better.
ETA- Also lazy Ben Franklin dropouts.

Had they rebuilt Holy Cross in Kenner (where they should have), Rummel would be closed by now.

Chapelle has had a tremendous turnaround in the last 2 years from a leadership and development perspective . They are growing in enrollment big time and have a dynamic and innovative principal of academics from Austin , Texas who has implemented an unbelievable curriculum . They just finished rasing funds and will begin construction on a 3 million dollar state of the art science lab.

BM also should be concerned do to its proximity to brand new HC and its alumni base is not inline with Jesuit.
Tho BM did get a big donation from Benson so that helps.

I really do believe in the next few years Rummel will turn into a smaller version of Curtis...sacrificing academics for athletics.
They already has an ESPN televised football game scheduled next year against Don Bosco.

Love the speculation in this thread....
Everyone is an expert....
Also love the way it always turns into a "my school is better than your school" thread... Typical...

How big? Lusher got $1m from Brees and all that got them was a football field with shitty grass.
Should have put turf like Newman did.

Rummel turning into JC is a big reason for its diminished enrollment I believe as I said earlier.

There hasn't been near the amount of school bashing in this tread compared to what I was expecting from the OT. Unless you count posting facts about school as bashing, most people have gotten along pretty well.
Except for the public school guy from Donaldsonville acting like he knew about the goings on in NOLA schools. That was funny.

$10 million. I haven't heard how they are allocating the money though.

There aren't many facts in this thread either. Lot of assumptions and opinions.
