On this day in 1992, Randy Weaver and his family were attacked by Federal law enforcement at their home on Ruby Ridge in Boundary County, Idaho. What began on that day would quickly become known as one of the most egregious examples of Federal police tyranny in the nation's history.
Feds been setting up and going after Americans for decades.

Can someone explain the reasoning that was behind this?

It's a pretty deep dive and an utter mess. Someone may provide a good Cliffs, though.

Randy Weaver committed the crime of wanted to take his family to live in the woods and be left alone.
The federal government couldn’t have that. They sent an undercover federal agent to set him up. Weaver legally sold two shotguns to the agent. The agent asked him to saw the barrel off for him. Weaver said no that is illegal. The agent said can you help me out this once, I don’t have a saw. Finally weaver relented and sawed off the barrels.
The FBi then killed Weaver’s son, wife(who was holding a baby at the time) and dog. They also wounded Weaver and his friend.
11 days later a few civilians convinced Weaver to surrender or eventually the FBI would kill them all.

Definition of entrapment, all the government people involved should burn in hell.

And to emphasize… the FBI agent wasn’t approached by Weaver to do it or even to mention it. The FBI agent coerced Weaver into doing it so they could arrest him and attempt to turn him against another group.
Wound up the FBI went militant and killed women and children when it didn’t go to their liking.
No worries though!! I’m SURE everything they do now is apolitical and above board!

The reasoning is the federal government is your enemy. That's about all that really matters. The specific "why" is even worse.
Just like Tim Walz's patriot cops shooting the free citizenry with paintball guns during covid, always back all law enforcement. #thinblueline #suckaheroofficerscock

were told to shoot any armed adult male on sight, whether he posed an immediate threat or not.
The next day, August 22, Randy Weaver – with daughter Sara and Kevin Harris – walked from his cabin to the little shack where his son’s body lay. As he lifted the latch on the shack’s door, Weaver was shot from behind by FBI sniper Lon Horiuchi. Weaver struggled back to the cabin while his wife, Vicki, stood in the doorway, holding their ten-month-old infant in her arms and calling for her husband to hurry.
Horiuchi testified that after shooting Weaver in the back, he followed Kevin Harris through his telescopic sight, leading slightly. He fired as the man rushed through the door of the cabin. According to The New York Times, Horiuchi, who claimed he could hit a target at a distance of 200 meters within a quarter of an inch, said he had “decided to neutralize that male and his rifle.” Instead, he hit Vicki Weaver in the temple, killing her. The bullet that passed through Vicki Weaver’s skull wounded Harris.
The paramilitary team then switched to psychological warfare. As The Washington Times’ Jerry Seper reported, “Court records show that while the woman’s body lay in the cabin for eight days, the FBI used megaphones to taunt the family. Good morning, Mrs. Weaver. We had pancakes for breakfast. What did you have?’”

Yes and no, IMO.
This massive frickup led directly to the Clinton White House going into Waco, in the hopes that the whole "Koresh is weird" shite would give cover and restore the FedGov's image. It only made it worse.
OKC was successful in turning that sympathy back to the Feds when the Murrah building was exploded. For more info, check out A Noble Lie. OKC was full of absolute shite - a proto 9/11.

I’m sure most of those militant FBI agents are now in higher positions - doing the same Lawfare to DJT, Catholics, conservatives, small business owners, etc.
