So only doctors or paramedics should stop and check on driver.

Valid point... at least somebody stopped to help, so that's good

And for the record, you don't have to be a doctor to assess the situation and help figure out the right course of action... just fyi

Not trying to argue any points here, I just know that if it were me, I'd like some help even if it wasn't a doctor

Did you slow down to look at the wreck entire time you passed it ensuring that everyone behind would have to slam on their brakes too causing traffic to back up for miles?

If not,

Edit:

In all seriousness, I hope who was ever involved in that wreck is okay. Driving is one of the most dangerous things we can do.

Were you able to film it on your cell phone before speeding off?

I always liked that part of BR after driving 8 hours from Dallas because it was like tOfficial start of Coonass Super Speedway. I'd make it to the Westbank in under an hour hahaha

This is true, however...I was CPR certified as part of my required OTJ Training. While I was working, if something happened and someone required CPR, I HAD to act. However, while not working, it was strictly my decision.

What happens if he jumps in there and the guy is unconscious? What if he is, unbeknownst to OP, a DNR?

I don't blame a single person if they choose to not jump into that situation. Some people are assholes even if you save their life.

Again, maybe you would, but some people don't, and would gladly sue someone if they were to become paralyzed because of the actions of an untrained civilian. Some people just wouldn't want an untrained person trying to rescue them.

I'm not saying either decision is right or wrong. But if OP didn't want to jump in there, fine for him. If there were already several people stopped, no reason for him to stop.

Personally, if my life is not in immediate danger, I don't want an untrained civilian trying to pull me out of there.

I came through about 8:05 and there were tons of cops and a fire truck.... the middle and right lanes were totally blocked off.

And the silver pick-up was still upside down.

The 10 ramp from 12 was backed up to almost Airline

While I understand exactly what you are saying, Louisiana has a good Samaritan immunity law just for future reference.
