Is it your arse wiping arm? Get a bidet, that non dominant hand doesn't have a clue how to wipe.
I was coming back to address this. My surgery was on my dominant arm and it renders it useless for a LONG time.
The learning curve for wiping your arse with the off hand is a real thing. Lots of soap and water can cure that once the paperwork is done.

It's gonna hurt.A lot. Just man up work through it you'll be better off.

This is the truth! Best explanation trying to wipe with the non-dominant hand is a monkey f&$@ing a football. Also goes with trying to eat with it as well.

My first and second was on my dominant arm. Using my other arm caused me to have severe back spasms. Holy hell that shite sucked.

I had them both done. Both times I didn’t shite for a week. Was taking laxatives like candy and using Fleet’s.
Btw, wiping your arse with your non-dominant hand is pretty much impossible.

Had this + labrum and mumford procedure five or six years ago. Get a cold therapy pad device. I used very little percocet postop for mine, and the cold therapy machine was the life saver. Be rigorous with your PT. I had a great full recovery and my shoulder is as good as it has ever been.
As a little side note, I'm postop from a knee arthroscopy a couple of weeks ago and again, cold therapy machine was my friend. Zero percocets used.

That ice machine that circulates ice water through a pad on your shoulder is the secret. If your insurance will not cover it, pay out of pocket. It is worth every penny plus. Pro tip with that. Freeze water bottles and use that instead of ice cubes. I had 8 bottles I just rotated in and out. I did my PT like it was my job, that ice pad felt amazing on my shoulder when I got home.

I fell from a sitting position and landed on my right shoulder. I dislocated it, tore the tendon completely off, and tore the biceps muscle. Had the surgery. Never felt any pain. Stopped medication 2nd day. Continued to work without time off working a computer, using my left hand. Surgery didn't take. Couldn't lift my arm above my head. Had reverse shoulder surgery. Fractured scapula while doing therapy. All in all, I was in a sling for about 16 weeks over a year period. Everything works, but my right arm gets fatigued really fast. Good luck. Every case is different.

Do all the rehab. Did mine about 15 years ago and it has been nothing but a champ since then
Yes. I had a back fusion done on L4, L5 and my rehab was to do a lot of walking. With that said, in my experience, if it isn't to rehabilitate a surgery, rehab otherwise is a scam

Like everyone said, keep ahead of the pain with meds. I also had one of the ice machines that circulated ice cold water around the shoulder. It was a game changer. Get a good recliner to sleep in. It will take a few days to get used to it. I don't think I really slept for 48-72 hours after surgery. A secondary sling for taking showers is a must. Don't try to anything else.
As for the rehab, stick to it religiously. Don't try to overdo it, but keep a tight schedule and make sure you do everything they say. I had two tears (supraspinatus, and subscapularis), as well as a bicep tear, so quite a bit of work. I had the work done on 8/30/2022, and was playing golf by late February 2023 thanks to the rehab. Of course it tooka while to build the atrophied strength back, but I have not issues at all now.

Sounds like you did not follow the prescription for recovery unfortunately. Immobilization is the ultimate key to having it heal correctly. You probably thought that since you COULD work, that you SHOULD. I took advantage and did not work for 2-3 weeks. Then only for a few hours at a time at my computer with only my left hand. I did not start using a mouse on my right hand for at least 6 weeks.

I had a full thickness tear in late 2015. Painful as hell.
In the spring of 2016, Dr. Eric Janssen of SportsMed in Huntsville fixed me up. .

Actually, I followed the Dr's orders to the letter. I immobilized my right arm for 6 weeks wearing the sling 24 hrs a day (wore a sling in the shower too.) I used my left arm to do everything else. It wasn't that hard for me to do. Sleeping in a sling was the worst. But, I sleep on my back so it was tolerable.

Self-serving bump...
So I ended up seeing the ortho on 12/30 and it was determined, per Xray, that I likely have a tear in the rotator cuff. I received a call on 12/31 to schedule the MRI but the earliest available was 1/14. I spent 12/31 and 1/1 in severe pain with nearly no mobility. Sleeping was next to impossible. Needless to say, I was not happy with an MRI date two weeks out.
This morning, I would say I have 75-85% mobility with only mild, dull pain. There is still obviously something going on, but would it be likely to have a tear...48+hours of excruciating pain and then...all of a sudden, see most mobility return with only a dull pain?
Anybody else have a similar experience?

I will if necessary...I guess I just don't understand how I went from "Holy shite fix it now or amputate" to "doesn't feel so bad after all" in 12 hours.

it only gets worse as you put it off, I've had both shoulders done, my only regret was not having it done sooner

Don’t take the meds. Weed is way more beneficial. My recovery was crap for first two weeks. If you were very strong before, you won’t get there again. If you were relatively normal, you will get back to that. Stretch daily, forever…

Rotator cuff repair
My right shoulder has been giving me issues for a few months now. Serious pain on the back right side if I reach my arm back or turn it in certain ways. Gonna definitely need to get it looked at.
