Call J&J Roofing. Josephine (forgot her last nane) owns and runs the business. She's from St. Amant and her crew does an amazing job!
I got quotes from Cribbs, Ryson, Geaux Roofing, and other smaller ones. All their quotes came to over $12,000 but Josephine and her guys were less than $10,000.
They were very professional and cleaned up very good after. I strongly recommend them.
Edit: my home is 1,573 sq ft living and then a two car carport, so maybe about 2,100 sq ft total roof area. Don't know how many squares.

Well, coming from my uncle who owns a roofing company anyone can get a free roof. It is impossible to do a roof to exact code such as ever nail must be a 1/4 inch from both edges and no one will sit there and measure that since it would take over a year to install a roof. So if your douche enough the cost is zero

My roof is being replaced monday. 50 squares/steep, 40 year shingles. I got 3 bids. 15k, 14.5k, and 13k. The 13k was sunrise roofing. I am going with them. They did my parents roof 5 years ago and they haven't had any problems.

You guys get better pricing down there. My roof was 58 squares. Cost was $23500 including new gutters, downspouts and gutter shields. It also included plywood and fascia board replacement in some areas.

Since my wind/hail deductible is $1,000...it would cost $1,000

What the hell does that mean? Commit insurance fraud?

I'll do it for 100 dollars a square right now. You buy the shingles. Nobody will beat that price

Considering what GL and comp cost to cover roof jobs, I bet they don't have the proper coverage to do roof work if they are doing it that cheap.
Most people are licensed and have insurance just to meet the state minimum to keep the license, but if they actually read their policies they will see that roofing is excluded. You would be screwed if you ever need to make a claim and you might get drug into a lawsuit if the guy has a worker fall off your roof.

Pretty amazing that one guy is 20% less than two other companies on a tiny roof job.

Yep. It's the unlicensed and underinsured guys that you just can't compete with. It's a huge reason I gave up on public work a long time ago. I do private work for banks and build my specs and that's it.
I get asked all the time for a business card or to come bid on something, but I don't even have cards, advertise, or take on work from people.
I used to have myself and another estimator just wasting tons of time writing up bids only to get undercut constantly just to be called a month later to fix what the low bidder fricked up. By that time, they still wanted you to fix it for the price the low bidder gave them.
