Nah, an adult should be able to have a glass of wine at a friend’s dinner party and drive home. An adult should also know when they need to call an Uber out of regard for the safety of themselves and the innocent people on the road with them. I agree that there should be stiff penalties for drunk driving though. quote: Normally im not that much of a hard***, but on this issue i am..

Im sure plenty of adults think theyre perfectly capable of keeping their eyes on the road while shooting off a quick text to their friends- yet most states have outlawed texting and driving since many people dont act like “adults.”

Yeah, youre right- while we’re at it, let’s not let the families of murder victims have a say in whether the death penalty is an appropriate punishment .

Alls im saying is, come talk to me after you lose a close family member to some jerkwad who thinks he drives better after a few cold ones .. then ur perspective might chance just a lil bit .

I don’t see how changing the drinking age from 18 to 21 stops drunk driving.

18 year olds still find ways to buy it. All it does is cause some to get a criminal record simply for possessing alcohol as an adult

If only Regan had been President after Ike. Of course, the CIA would’ve killed him too. Since there are CIA desk jockeys monitoring Tigerdroppings, I just want to say go frick yourselves this morning to all of you spies against your own countrymen.

And now we have people texting and driving 10x worse than driving after a couple of beers (the stats prove it out). I wish the popo enforced distracted driving laws like they do drunk driving.

Talk about a major violation of the 10th Amendment.

Then Joe Biden decided that 11 year olds can have gender reassignment.

Louisiana had a loop hole that allowed them to sell beer to an 18yo up until 1995. Which happened to be the year I turned 18. So we could legally buy beer, them bam, we couldn't anymore. But not that it mattered. Everywhere around here still sold us beer anyway.

i was on the other end of the spectrum.... one month before i turned 21 the law went into effect. so i was able to legally buy alcohol for 35 months then for one month i could not then i could again.

Drinking and driving is an epidemic in this country.. It’s still taken way too casually IMO and i still know people in 2023 who laugh it off and say they drive better ‘after a couple of drinks’… Until someone you know is maimed or killed by a selfish-*** drunk driver, you cant even comprehend .. there needs to be MUCH more of a stigma in this country with re to drinking & driving .

What's equally true is that the LEO lobby have created drunk driving into a cash cow. There's no reason for them to actually lower dwi when they stand to lose money.

I would love to see a breakdown in the ages of people who get DWI's...also, people under 21 are still drinking as much as they want.

They had to or lose federal highway funding. That's literal force.

If everyone drank a beer on the way home from work and turned off their cellphone their would be fewer accidents. And I mean one

It didn't. It just propped up the "counseling" industry and gave kids a misdemeanor crime on their record.

It has devolved into less about public safety and more revenue generation for Police Departments. They're all for lowering the BAC limits on a DUI and/or enforcing absolute sobriety through checkpoints. So you had a glass of wine or two with dinner, frick off you piece of shite, you're going to jail and here is a $10k fine.

I was a year or so ahead of that but many of my bros were in your position and it fricking sucked, many got popped with MIPs. The cops seemed to be going above and beyond to enforce it too. Several parties got busted up, which always sucks.
