I am headed out of town this weekend for a road trip to Ashland, OR. We have set a few definite pit stops (Austin, Grand Canyon, LA) but haven't set anything down in stone besides where we will be crashing. We will also be camping a few nights if we can find a good spot.
Are there any must stop places when driving through? We are taking the 101 down the coast of California.
I am a road trip noob, anything I can't forget? Water, food, entertainment... For the long car ride - splitting driving time with three people so it shouldn't be so bad.
Are there any hot springs along the way? I would love to take a dip.
Any advice or feedback is much appreciated.

I would suggest going up the coast of CA if you are wanting to go to Oregon and not Mexico

Yeah, a bit strange.
OP is in luck though. Oregon has a bunch.
Some are resort style and some are more natural.

I hear a good buzz makes any trip better. No more than a 6 pack every 5 hours seems to be the standard.

Bring a can of gas.
I made the same trip to make the world's largest dick joke.

Say hi to Hal Koerner when you get to Ashland.

What a strange question
Should I be concerned of bears?

You might want to hit up Crater Lake and Bend, while in Oregon.
Soak Oregon
Bears? No. Beers? Now those things will kill you...

Drive out on the peninsula of North Bend/Coos Bay in Oregon. I was out there and stayed in one the homes for six months. Beautiful scenery, although a bit wet most of the time

South Utah is fricking spledid. I suggest spend time in the 5 parks depending on how much time you have, but capitol reef is probably my favorite of the 5, arches has my favorite hike (devil's garden), and zion has one of my favorite hiking views at the end/halfway point (angels landing)

Stop and see the Marfa lights!
You want him to go way out of his way to bumfrick Texas just to see reflected headlights? That's silly.

How long should a road trip like this be? Two weeks? I think this would be awesome
