Still, both drivers are fricking morons.
The SUV was blocking him on an interstate and preventing him from leaving. He was probably trying to prevent getting rear ended at highway speeds.

SUV driver comes to a complete stop on the freeway - how do you de-escalate that situation?
You go around them, because sitting at a dead stop on the freeway is a good way for both vehicles to get rammed by traffic behind them.
